I can't manage a class , Should I leave teaching?

At most private schools students are spoiled and naughty. It is hard to deal with them and I can't manage a class they talk a lot. I can't make them shut up. Should I leave teaching

No, you need to figure out how to get them to sit and shut up. I do not allow cell phones in class and have no problem calling out an unruly student and tell him to either shut up or take it outside. I teach at a local college and I realize that grade school might be harder but you can do this.

Our elementary school had a privilege system where kids who quieted down when the teacher said so got free chicken nuggets at the end of the year. You could offer things like tennis court privileges, the right to choose their essay topics, the right to choose their book topics, the right to choose where they sit in the class, or the right to use the library at night etc…

you have to learn to manage their behavior. Set rules day one. They have to sign a contract with yiu. Parents are accountable if they are under 18.

Teaching is only 1/2 of the battle…
Managing kids is 💯 of the battle 😔
Middle school kids are hard becuase they are confused in many ways becuase they are between being a kid and wanting to be an adult… they are not.
So you have to learn to discipline them at the same time…find a system that they respect yiu as an educator/teacher/“friend” they have to feel they trust you and then respect you.

The middle school kids are the worst. I am ashamed to admit that I had a math teacher that we used to make her cry.

I may be in the minority here, but of you cannot manage the class, the students cannot learn, and that means you fail as a teacher. Unless you can find a way to manage the class, change schools, or find another career.

Why did you get into the teaching profession? The pays too low and nobody cares about the teachers. I would understand you were just trying to get the early retirement at the public school, but why private school.

But to answer your question, yes that's what most teachers are doing. Leaving their job because a journey man tradesmen is making way more than them without a degree.
