31 and no drivers license?

Question

I feel stupid. I had lessons 10 years ago but i stopped. Now i do everything by bus or bike but i feel ashamed. I also feel everyone judging me. I dont have motivation to get it either anymore

Ah man don't feel too bad about it. Sounds like life just got in the way of finishing your license. Busy stuff happens y'know. And getting around by bus and bike is pretty smart these days with gas prices. Doesn't make you stupid at all if that's what works. I probably know a few other people your age without theirs too, so you're not the only one. Maybe try not to worry what others think you do you. As long as you're getting where you need to be who cares how right? Only thing is maybe having your license could open some job doors down the line. But no rush. When you feel ready to try again just do it for you, not anyone else. Take the pressure off yourself and it might help you find the motivation. You got this!

In life everyone’s situation is different & you shouldn’t feel ashamed about anything. In this world some people drive & some people don’t & other people just drive you nuts. As for you you’re 31 & when it comes to not having a drivers license you are not alone. Some cities have a wonderful public transportation network & other cities don’t & as for you if you know how to navigate that public transportation network that is all you need & if you ride a bike that is wonderful & wonderful exercise as well.

You are doing fine so live your own life & do your own thing.

I got mine at 31. I was the same situation.
I couldn't really be bothered getting it by this stage either as I was so used to public transport for 10 years. I lived in a major city for my 20s so It was fine.
But I did decide to just get it so I have it if I ever decided I want a car.
I just took it slowly. Did driving lessons once a week for 4-5 months. Then sat my licence and passed first time.
I am so glad I finally just got it done. Was hanging over my head for like 12 years.

either muster up the motivation or make peace with it. Nothing wrong with not driving so long as you live in a place with good public transport services.

Okay- yes , you are behind the curve on this one. There are lots of people that do not drive if they live in the city and don;t need a car. I never knew how to cook anything until i was almost 50. I became unemployed during covid and just decided I would try to teach myself how to cook some simple meals. I can cook a turkey or chicken. or a prime rib. I made fried chicken or fish and I baked bread that came out really good.

Make a plan to get your drivers license. Find somebody to teach you to drive or go to driving school. Go to the RMV and take the test. Find your own motivation. Plan a road trip to someplace cool.

Driver licenses came in like 1930's

before people did travel using horses, and those things didn't need a license.

in India today, lot of people don't have a license and drive.. I have seen 14-year-olds riding motorbikes to farm and back in rural areas.

until 15 years ago, driver's licenses were not even a thing. It was just there as an ID card..

today, a major part of the world do not need one..

so relax.. and learn the skill..
