Last time I was getting fired, I told the lady to "Just save it" and I picked up my purse and wasled out. Went to the unemployment office a few days later with some notes she would leave on my desk for me about what a pleasure I am to work with, that I am such a good worker and collected unemployment money for a few months.

I would both accept it and leave AND debate the point legally.
Firstly, I wouldn't let them pull any crap, if what they where claiming is untrue I would make sure letters where written and emails sent proving how wrong they where.
Secondly, unless they became quite contrite, quite soon (meaning a level of reversal or appology) I would leave even if they later accepted they where wrong (as I would not wish to stay with such a company).
If though, they overturned their decision before it became official (e. g. brought me in to speak about a potential issue which might lead to my being let go) and they accepted my counter evidence and didn't persue it. I would be willing to be the bigger man and let it slide.
Hope that helps.
ps. It's way easier for me to do that in a civilised country where the law is a mediator than in say the USA where money is king. Since in the USA it's about who has the money to defend themselves, rather than whos right. If I was forced to work in the US, I'd just post a rebuttal to the claims with coworkers and HR. Make them give me a signed declaration of receipt of the proof, and then just quit myself. America may be great at some things, but fairness in employment ain't one of them.
I wanna know why I’m getting fired because odds are, the only reason I would be id because I effed up somewhere and if that’s the case, I’d have quit on the spot before getting fired.
If I was being let go (shortage of work) I wouldn’t even bother wanting to know why. I’ll collect my EI happily and milk out the company as much money as I can considering I’ve devoted years. I’ll be sure to steal office supplies before my departure too and I’m not returning the company computer. Paper? Taking it, pens, toilet paper, if I can take it, I AM TAKING IT.By the time they're firing you, they've already filed all the paperwork to make it happen. They have no option but to fire you at that point. Arguing will often times change nothing. If, however, you feel like you were wrongfully terminated, unproven accusations of a criminal nature, then I would consult with a lawyer. But if you otherwise feel like "Well, I mean, some of the stuff they said is kind of true..." Then just move on. Even if the "main thing" wasn't true, and they have other back up stuff about how you negatively impacted the company which is true, they have the upper hand. Find a new job.
There's no point in arguing. The decision has been made. Nothing you say will change that.
In the US, people are often offered a severance package in exchange for signing a legal agreement that they won't take legal action against the company. When I was fired, I asked for time to read the agreement. I took it to a lawyer who had other ideas. He sued and I got 6x the cash plus health insurance for a year. The insurance alone was worth $20,000.
I would argue with myself what I did wrong and why I would fire me.
Jokes asside, even as a selfemployed worker, I still need places to publish. If one would stop publishing me, I would want to know why, but I would not argue and just look for a new place. It’s pointless to argue with them but make it as uncomfortable and awkward as possible. The firing manager is going to try to wrap things up as soon as possible to avoid being uncomfortable themselves. Keep them talking for as long as possible.
Why argue they never care about you and companies are never loyal.
You worked 15 years for us... Fired ops your our best worker? Fired
It is all sucking up numbers and privilege in a company no one ever cares for you higher up.
I've never been fired but there's no point trying to make them change their mind just accept to and use it as an opportunity to do better
What do you gain by arguing? Do you really think you will convince them to change their decision? And if they do, would you be comfortable staying on a job where the manegement already said they don't want you?
I've never been fired. By the time I decide to leave, I'm usually making the company so much money that they offer me a raise or bonus if I stay. What I usually do is tell them I'll take care of finding a suitable replacement so they are not left at a disadvantage.
Oh hell no, I'll do just like the rest of the brainless, losers and take my AK 47 in and shoot everybody!!! Isn't that what losers do these days?
I'd walk out with a smile in style. If they don't appreciate you just walk away and find somewhere where they appreciate you.
I wouldn't argue, since they probably have their minds made up anyway. I'd want to know the reasons and get documentation of whatever you could, in case you want to pursue a wrongful firing case.
I would just leave. Arguing will not help anything. If I could file a wrongful termination suit I would. Otherwise I would go right down to the unemployment office and sign up.
Just leave. You aren't going to change their mind, and even if you did, they'd just find something else to fire you for.
Id want a reason and if i can't do anything just leave. I wouldn't shake their hand
accept and leave, no use in arguing, beneath me
Just seen yaa wouldn't wanna be yaa enjoy your life
When I was laid off after 20 years, I didn't argue, just got my personal things and left.
Accept. No need to waste any more of each other's time.
