Im trying to career change into the hospitality industry but I have no experience in this line of work. I have a great resume and many years of customer service experience. I know I can use my skills to do well in this new career path. I have applied to many jobs since the fall time and so far most won't respond back. Any suggestions how to get into this industry?
You need to start from the bottom. Which usually means restaurants but since you're older and have experience in an adjacent field, you could probably get into some kind of management role at a brick and morter location or what I think would have more potential for growth options would be to get a job at a hotel in management. Especially one that holds events like mitzvahs, weddings corperate events etc.
Because then you'll be able to go the direction of management, administrative, project management etc.
Restaurant industry is good if you're good at networking since moving up is usually very much so a popularity contest. There's nothing all that hard about being a store manager in a corperate setting, it's just about getting your superiors to vouch for you and many of these companies are expanding.
You should give applying as a store manager at Starbucks a shot. It's hard to get but I've seen some insanely under qualified people get that job and it pays over 70k/yr

In a bad economy, people travel less and it's harder to get hospitality jobs, especially with no direct experience. This is going to true everywhere, but will be more or less true depending on your location.
As others have said, these jobs usually require experience - either restaurant or hotel front lobby, as most managers are promoted from those positions after they have proven themselves. It's likely that you are competing against people with experience, and that's extra difficult.
It would be different in a growing economy with a shortage of workers, but this is Bidenomics.
A few years ago I had a career change from working in a minimum wage call center job to working in local government. I didn’t have any experience working in government, but I had experience providing a service that benefited the general public. One thing that helped with the transition was tailoring my resume to fit the job. Use your experience from past jobs, but phrase them in a way that shows you’d make a great fit with the new.
Hospitality work is customer-oriented, and you already have the experience, so there’s a good chance you won’t have to necessarily start at the bottom.

Try to get into see a manager somewhere you would like to work. Ask them to take a look at your resume and offer any suggestions to where they think you need more experience before a place like theirs would hire you. Hopefully if they are impressed with you they will offer you a position.
one way is look for jobs that are specifically offered for lateral entry employees if you already got a bunch of experience in an adjacent profession, which i think is close enough in your case.
another way is to reduce the hours in your current job and start an internship in the profession you wanna change into to get a feel for what is expected of you in order to be accepted for the job.Suck dick. thays the only way
