There's context and evidence missing. Could be playing favorites, or could be teacher creeping on students. Normally teachers are not supposed to interact with students on social media, unless it's to contact them about something school related. It's for legal reasons of the school.

I'm the same. There are students I just don't like in my classes, paticularly one who's kinda obnoxious and fat. My favourite student i can't praise enough, is a sophomore who I taught last year. She's very shy but clever and very witty. She's so pretty too. I always look forward to seeing her and love it when she calls over to my apartment as she has since December last year.
