I recently found out that I’ve been saying my co-worker’s name wrong for a year and a 1/2, but he hasn’t corrected me. Should I start saying it right?

I’ve been co-workers with this guy for a year and a half. Our old manager pronounced his name one way and I had been pronouncing it that way too. The old manager retired in December and I got promoted, taking over his job.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve noticed that other team members have been pronouncing his name a different way. I don’t know if he told them to pronounce it that way in private or during a meeting I missed. But I feel weird just changing it up now. Should I ask him how I should pronounce his name? I feel embarrassed to do so because this has been going on for weeks and I feel weird changing up the way I say his name.
