Why do so many bankers quit after they become high level managers?

I know of 3 cases where they work like dogs and then less than 3 years after reaching the pinnacle, they quit. I was also watching a YouTube video and a former banker quit her job in her 30s and went back to school to get a B. sc. and then M. sc. and then PhD in social sciences. She said she wanted to take more care of her emotional benefits and not just have the financial benefits of a high paying job.

Why do so many bankers quit after they become high level managers?
