Yes and this is done in some places such as California. There’s a policy called Proposition 22 that requires these companies to pay their employees an hourly wage, and then the tips are just a bonus.
I really do not know much about how it works but I always thought that they got paid by the delivery.
@Flower7 paying someone $2.50 per delivery is an insult. They need to make it worth peoples time. @exitseven “find another job” is such a privileged statement
@Kingofkings1992 I worked a shitty sales job for almost 20 years it did not pay much more than minimum wage. I had a wife and two kids to support. I knew I had to "find another job". I was not born with connections and did not have rich parents that would send me to college. I went to college at night. It took me 5 years to finish my degree and I decided I wanted to go into IT so I went to grad school at night for another 3 years. The only privilege I had was the privilege to work my ass off to get ahead.

AskDoorDash drivers often rely on tips to supplement their income, as the base pay can be low. Providing a living wage through fair wages ensures financial stability, reducing dependence on tips. This approach aligns with creating sustainable job opportunities and acknowledges the effort and time drivers invest in their work. Supporting drivers with a living wage can also enhance job satisfaction and retention, benefiting both drivers and the company in the long run.
