What do I do if I am overqualified, yet I cannot land another role in my industry?

Time and time again, I will say you can thank Xiden and his cronies for. the massive fuck-ups on the American middle-class worker.

I am a software developer. The tech job market has been destroyed. Meanwhile, I have began applying for roles well-below my skill level just to earn some income. There is a concept of underemployment and overqualification that tends not to be highlighted all too often. This can actually hurt my chances. Sadly, no one has called me back.

No one owes you a living, it's up to you to figure out a way to make yourself valuable to someone else.

Presidents don't create jobs, and they don't take them away, no matter how stupid their policies are. The only exception to this would be if they nationalized an industry and made it illegal to have that career.

Individuals and companies create jobs and the marketplace does. One thing we know from history is everything changes, all the time. You have to always be ready for this. No matter how secure you feel in a job or industry, it can be taken away at any moment, and you have to make yourself ready for something else.

In my field, I can always find good work. And even though it's unlikely, my biggest risk would be becoming disabled from an unexpected injury (just in general, not related to my work), so I have really good insurance to protect against that. It won't allow me to work again, but it will make sure I always have enough money coming in.

As a hiring manager, we do run background checks. That's probably why, some charges are automatic red flags. Like where I work, we may hire a person convicted of murder, but not someone of fraud, stalking or a sex offense. We may hire someone with with Marijuana use, but not bad credit. So on and so forth.

My stalking and harassment convictions stem from 2016. Also, a background check isn't normally conducted until farther into the candidacy process. I would have to provide my SSN and other sensitive info.

Also, the predator sting doxxing info has been scrubbed, and I didn't have any charges come about from that incident anyways.

I am a new man at age 30, newly engaged, and I have different priorities. Sadly, the autisticness didn't go away.

On a prior account, you still were as of a few years ago. Both nathandavis and I remember that. You may not be hunting 16 year old children, but you still did it then stalked her afterwards. That sort of stain never goes away.

I was also overqualified for many positions. Companies will not hire you because they know that you will be looking for a better job the whole time and when you finally get one you will be out the door.

It took me 18 months to get my last position but I know that things are bad out there.

Companies are trying to switch software development to AI. We'll have to wait and see if that works, but in the meantime, there are lots of software developers, like yourself, looking for work.

Well my understanding is that because so many picked that job which early on was very lucrative has been besieged by so many and not as many needed any longer many of you had better look for another avenue of revenue.

Any decent career will have some barriers to entry, which is why these skills are in demand.

I thought about becoming an independent RV technician, but I do not have $10,000 to attend training academy.

Check out your states programs. Most states will pay for tuition to programs that are in demand (i. e. welding, lineman, et al).

I tried. I went over to the American Job Center and they told me I made too much money in the recent past. I am thinking about trying vocational rehab again.

Getting a CDL will mean you always have a job. It may not be the job you really want but it will pay the bills.
