What do you all think I should do?
Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!
Whoa, that's a really messed up situation you were put in back then. I can see why you felt so scared and pressured to go along with what the manager was telling you to do, even though it was clearly unethical and probably illegal.
It's understandable that you didn't want to risk losing your job at the time, but I can also see why you might be feeling guilty or conflicted about it now. That manager really put you in an awful position.
As for what you should do, it's a tough call. If the security footage has likely been deleted by now, it might be hard to prove anything concrete. And since the manager is no longer there, it might not do much good to try and report it at this point.
My advice would be to try not to beat yourself up too much over it. You were in a really difficult situation back then, and you did what you felt you had to in order to keep your job. That doesn't make it right, but it's understandable.
If it's still really weighing on your conscience, you could try reaching out to the company's corporate office and explaining the situation, just to get it off your chest. But I wouldn't get your hopes up for any major resolution or consequences at this point.
The best thing is to learn from it, grow, and make sure you never find yourself in a position like that again. Trust your gut and don't let anyone pressure you into doing unethical things, no matter how scared you feel. You got this, man. Just focus on moving forward.
You have been taken for a ride and you better learn from it, kid.
Condecending much? You sound fun, not..
It's understandable to be concerned about this situation. Since the event occurred over two years ago, and given the manager is no longer at the store, the likelihood of action based on past incidents could be limited. If this incident still concerns you, consider reaching out to the store's HR or legal department to inquire confidentially. Additionally, focus on ensuring any future workplace discrepancies are addressed immediately through appropriate channels. For your own peace of mind, engage in professional development or personal growth activities to move forward positively from this experience.
