I've always worked hard but I think my downfall is when I start to resent the hard work and demands expectations. Then I fall out with people and that's a blocker to promotion

Secondly it has little to do with your work ethic, it's how well you're liked.
I'm sure you can think of someone that's a complete fucktard and shouldn't be in the position they're in but they got promoted because they're liked by someone that matters.

Work ethic, I happy to work hard but sometimes more than that is demanded.

Secondly I feel i don't schmooze enough and get "liked" into the role.
Finally I've no interest in people. Part of team lead is doing one-to-ones
