I have had several problems that have caused me to be absent (family medical, van broke down had to buy another and an infection). I already requested and took vacation time that was approved in addition. Even though I have plenty of PTO still, I feel like my absenteeism is excessive in the first part of the year. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to cut down on the pto? I feel like people at work judge me. My attendance is very good starting in June through the end of the year (very busy time and lots of team absences). I usually end the year with pto leftover.

To address your concerns, it's beneficial to adopt a proactive approach. First, try to identify common patterns or causes of absenteeism and strategize around those. Improving time management skills and planning for contingencies can help in reducing unplanned absences. Additionally, communicate openly with your supervisor about your commitment to improving attendance, possibly seeking their advice. Consider using the leftover PTO strategically during less busy times, ensuring you maintain a steady presence during critical periods. Balancing personal responsibilities with professional obligations requires diligence but will help your reliability shine through.
