I mean Japanese and Chinese are both very difficult languages to learn and Japanese people and Chinese people have above average grades and above average income in Canada. I also met a lot of intelligent Africans hand picked for immigration from Africa and many African languages are very hard to learn. I feel like people who speak only English, but do not know any other language, tend to get lower grades and earn less money than immigrants that are hand picked to enter your country from elsewhere. One example is that over 90% of the Chinese born people I know in Canada were STEM professors in China before they immigrated to Canada. Because immigrants are hand picked to enter the country for their academic credentials, they tend to be smarter.

People hand picked for immigration tend to come from affluent families and have had better education than many of their fellow countrymen. It's why they're also better at 2 languages.

As for English speakers who only speak one language that's down to the poor education system in England that doesn't start teaching other languages until kids are about 12 and does a bad job of it rather than down to intelligence.
