When I was dismissed from my previous job during the pandemic, I chose to start my own business instead of going back to another physical job, and I've had multiple people deny I am capable of employment because of the limited funds I've generated in my new rookie business.
I found out around 4 years later, that my career pays very well, but the odds of being established in this career and actually making money as opposed to being a mere dreamer or failed job plant, are 1 in 4,000.
If I had known the odds at the beginning, I might have just returned to another traditionally paid job. A lot of people in my family view me as jobless cause I make so little, since I'm new to this industry.
