I'm mainly referring to financial investments, but you're also welcome to share other kinds of investments you've made in life that you don't regret. I'm especially hoping to hear from some older and wiser folks. Thank you!

There are two types of financial investments in my opinion. One, that gives me monetary growth. And second, that gives me non-monetary value.
I've been working as the financial advisor for my dad since Covid. I have made him make smart investments in real-estate that has given us 6× returns (which is predicted to be doubled in the next 2 years). Totally life changing. We're finally at the point of our lives where we don't need to think before purchasing anything we want (doesn't mean we spend mindlessly). Had we not invested, that money would have lost its value in the bank because of inflation and be spent on depreciating assets. Not only the value of the real-estate increases, but upon the construction, it'll also provide passive income.
The second best investment was, ahem, crypto. I had surplus money in my account so, I invested that in fundamentally strong cryptocurrencies and when I compare that to: (1.) Keeping it in the bank instead (2.) Buying shares (3.) investing in ponzi schemes like NFTs, Out of all my friends who did the (1) (2) & (3) instead, I'm the only one who has doubled my money. The pro is that I don't have to actively be involved in trading. I just bought and forgot about it. The money would have been lying in my bank too, but would have lost its value. The con is the tax but I'm not planning on cashing it till there are better regulations, as it's surplus money anyway.
For the second type of financial investment, I'd say that my best investments are a body composition scale, treadmill and dishwasher. The scale helps me keeping my body in check, especially my body fat percentage. The treadmill has made me fitter than ever before and dishwasher saves so much time and energy. I'm also planning to buy a vacuum cleaning robot. Things that give you details about your health, make you healthy and save your time and effort are the true wealth and provide real value that money cannot theoretically offer.
Did you guys purchase a property when it was in the process of being built? Because I knew real estate investment can give you a lot of money but I didn't know you could get double profit in such a short span of time, I thought you get that much of profit after a decade or so
Ah, crypto. I was thinking whether I should oe shouldn't. I was playing with that thought for a while. After reading your answer. I will invest in it at some point.
I agree with what you said regarding health. I was going to buy robot too as it's getting more and more difficult to find a house help in my city (finally found a help yesterday) ๐ญ but need a trustworthy review first so let me know once you do, lol. Does your dishwasher cleans any kind of utensils thoroughly without needing to wash it again?
I traveled a lot to look for the government schemes. It's a lucky draw system where you have to submit a token money and you'll get the property if you are lucky at very nominal rate. Yes you're right, they're plots only, but the government gives you strict guidelines to build it in time or else sell it. I held it as much as could and now I'll sell it to purchase a well furnished building to avoid the process of building it myself. Yes I got lucky but searching, deciding to hold and setting the amount to sell and reinvestment is difficult. You can get that amount if you invest in rapidly developing area. For example I bought a land near (upcoming) Jewar airport. It has given me 4ร in 3 years and projected to further give 1.5-2ร in two years as the phase 1 of the airport is about to be completed. There will be a total of 4 phases so, you can imagine the growth. Things like that help a lot. There are no draws anymore, only auctions.
Only invest surplus money in crypto and only on good cryptos like BTC, ETH etc. If you want to take risks in life, better trade shares on stock exchanges instead.
I'm confused about the robot too. I can't decide myself either. As soon as I find one, I'll send you the link (I'll only buy on the sale โ๏ธ๐)
Trust me and blindly buy a dishwasher ASAP. I was sceptical too but you know what, contrary to Indian beliefs, it cleans the utensils better than hands ever could. I'll send you the pic (tomorrow if I remember) of a brass/bronze/copper (dunno the material ๐) kadhayi, the material that permanently gets dark. The dishwasher cleared away all the darkness and gave it a new life which wasn't possible no matter how hard we clean it. It's because the tablets we use in dishwashers are just that superior.

Oh no! When I'm out of groceries, I'm usually too lazy to go to the store and grab it. I just order groceries online so I'll have plenty of time and energy to cook these dishes that takes forever to cook ๐คฃ I didn't know you enjoy eating Asian cuisine
I cooked this dish called kaala mutton cha rasa. It's a dish from Maharashtra state in India and they speak Marathi. So the dish name is in Marathi but basically it's lamb with dark gravy. Lamb is marinated nicely and the ingredients that are used to make gravy are like dried coconut, onion, few green chillies, garlic and they roast it until they turn dark and then they use a grind it to turn into a paste and then they saute it and add some dry spices before they add marinated lamb which was cooked in another pot until it's tender. Then bring it to a boil until the gravy is thick and the colour of the gravy gets dark. Then add some lemon juice and coriander

I had no idea about the government schemes, to be honest ๐
Thank you for explaining. You guys made a smart decision! Congratulations ๐
Got it. I'll try that and share my experience someday.
Awesome. Will be waiting for not just the link but also detailed review, lol
I'm going to read all that ๐
Is it the link to "Return of the tres (Delinquent Habits)"? That's what opened when I pasted it on Google. I love that song.
I mean I am North Indian. I am as Desi as it get especially when it comes to food!
I am pretty sure we eat mutton the same way because Our gravy is dark too. We don't have a pretty name like you though. We just call it "paaji, aaj mutton laga do" ๐ and paaji does all that you mentioned.
Yeah so buy the dishwasher. It's a lifesaver. Personally, I have the Bosch one.
For vaccum robot, it'll take me time (to research). The only thing I know right now is that for 20k, you get a basic one in which you'll have to manually refill the water and for 40k you get a big station where the robot can refill the water itself.
Right now my house and property , that I know for a fact I am going to make a pretty penny from , once I sell it , Most people that are house hunting want my home because of the privacy and the land and how cool the house is set up , Before 1 year was up , while I was living there , and doing some updates on the house , I was getting a ton of offers on my home , my real estate agent called me up and asked if I wanted to move yet and she laughed because she knew I wasnโt even there a year yet , and she told me all the demands I am getting for my home , and said if I sold it now I could walk away with over 100 grand in my pocket. I laughed and said not yet , plus I want to make more updates and I donโt feel like moving that fast lol , My home equity keeps climbing like crazy so as of now I am looking to move because I want out of this area , So I am probably putting the house up for sale soon And as of now, I can easily walk away with over 200k in my pocket from it , And now that I am getting older , I want to downgrade , I realize I no longer need this size home. I also invested in crypto currency but that hasnโt been that successful for me whatsoever
Yea part of the reason I bought this home is because I knew it was on an area most people want to be , especially newlyweds with kidsโ itโs safe and private. So I been doing some upgrades and bringing the value up even more. Most people that come see my home immediately say this house is fucking awesome lol All I hear is Ching Ching Money lol
Yea I donโt mind investing
Money into something that I know more than likely I am going to benefit from , I know a lot of people say invest in stocks and bonds , which unfortunately that doesnโt sit to well with me because there isnโt a guarantee, Crypto I felt the same way so I didnโt invest that much into it and I am glad I didnโt , because thatโs a hit or
Miss as well and I had it for quite sometime now and all I see is my money going up and down up and down , will barely any gain from it. The only other think I take my chances with is the lottery and scratch off tickets and the casino on occasion mainly for fun and I know when to stop , and I donโt go crazy with it like some people do. I have hit at the casino a handful of times off of 50 to 100 bucks and walked out with a few grand , I would never walk in there with a few grand to gamble with lol. Unless I was some multi millionaire , so that would be chump change to me lol
No , when I gamble , I donโt spend a lot of money whatsoever, and I donโt gamble on a steady basis , I just like to gamble once in awhile for fun, and I know when to stop , unlike some people that donโt know when to stop , My ex had a gambling problem and she didnโt know when to stop , another reason she is my ex , Gambling can sadly be an addiction that some people canโt control , like my ex. I would look at her like she was a fucking moron and tell her she is a fucking moron , she would get defensive about it and try to turn the story around on me that I am the reason she has a gambling problem , thatโs when I realized the girl is mentally insane.
Investing in my education, particularly my MBA at Harvard, is an investment I absolutely don't regret. It opened doors to numerous opportunities and equipped me with a strong foundation in business acumen. Additionally, investing time in continuous learning and personal development has been invaluable, keeping me adaptable and relevant in a rapidly changing world. Both forms of investment have profoundly enriched my career and life, allowing me to guide others effectively.

1. My 401(k). I contributed 10% of my gross salary for 30 years and my company matched 6%. That and the compounding interest grew a lot. It is now managed by an asset management company and continues to grow. I dip into it periodically.
2. My home and the land it's on were also a great investment. We bought in 2002.
After 9/11 the stock price of the company I was working for his an all time low. Then the circuit breakers got tripped and the markets were closed for a week. I bought the stock sa soon as markets reopened and in about 18 moths i tripled my money. If I had more money on hand i would have bought more but it still was a good investment.
Of course the two homes that i own have done very well too.
OMG
There are many.
Every property I've purchased.
In listed ASX = GTP , RIO , NAB , APZ , JEGA
GTP would have been a life changer if it were still around , but I've been investing for many years , it's how I make a living.
My father convinced me to buy whole life insurance when I was in my 20s. It has turned into a nice investment.
@exitseven I'm sure you are. ๐

us treasuries... yea only 4%, but avoided losing $.
My father made millions from CSL (Commonwealth Serum Laboratories). He bought at about $2, they are now trading at $239. My guess is I will never see my father's money, but still it was a good investment.
My computer, not only can I game on it but I can also do other things like run my website and stuff, I could also invest in the stock market if I ever choose to get back into that
Terrible, I lost 2k in a crypto a couple years back and said screw this ๐
To be fair, I got greedy, rule number one, don't get greedy ๐
Premium Bonds. Regular small wins, chance of a million, capital stays there.
Need to have the full ยฃ50k to be worth it
@jamesgoldman I thought the limit was ยฃ30,000, when did it change?
No idea, just considered getting some a few years back and asked my accountant who gave me that advice... him and his wife had the maximum until they moved to France and liquidated the lot for a new Lexus
