I have tried learning Hebrew through iPod videos where they mention conversational words and make you follow along, as well as listening to Hebrew songs and trying to follow the written script while doing it, as well as reading the interlinear bible online that displays Hebrew translations with phonemes with English words in parallel structure alongside each other, and combining that the Hebrew interlinear bibleaudio recording of a voice reading the script word for word in exact order, and I found using the bible translations combined with audio was around 200x more effective for learning Hebrew than any other method for learning the language.

If you are reiiogus, and want to learn a language, I recommend reading a bible translation of that language in a foreign language, because the bible says the Spirit of God helps you remember bible verses, so bible verses are around 200 times easier to remember than things outside scripture.

Watching movies, even with subtitles, doesn't work. The dialogue goes too fast and the word order won't always be the same. Unless you're already very proficient you'll struggle. Even reading books is pointless if you need to look up every single word.

Courses are good but they tend to teach "Perfect" rather than "natural" language. Anything claiming to teach you French in 10 easy lessons is Bullshiting you.

Immersion in a foreign country is a myth. Apart from massacring a few sentences from a phrase book and giving the locals a laugh you won't get anywhere.

By far the best way is to enroll in a class, plus do an online course like duolinglo at the same time. But the key thing is to buddy up with a native speaker who can explain things that aren't clear in lessons. We get a lot of language learners here and the ones who advance are the ones who ask for advice.

Most effective is being born in the country that speaks the language.

Since that only applies to one's native language, The best method is a combination of several things. Taking courses for starters, then watching movies and talking to native speakers to affirm what one learned in the courses.

i think the most effective language learning method is practicing the language with someone that speaks that language, i know this because i can speak 8 languages and i learned them like that but also YouTube is a good source there are a lot of YouTube channels based on the language you are trying to learn and a lot of good vlogs in different languages as well
