How much have your investments grown in the last 5/10 years?

been investing 40 years. youd better be careful because it will screw you and you wo't get your $ back. most people your age never lost 1/2 their money if not more. I know people that lost it all, thankful it wasn't me. if you don't know what you are doing, be conservative until you do. it's easy to lose money hard to get it back.

Be aware of the word "investment" because people throw it around when the real word is "speculation". Speculating is very risky... do you really smell gold in that hill over there? gonna lose your $ on that. That said, gold probably good risk now given the world messes and mentality.

A broker has a definitive job... to make you more broke! They make money by screwing you, no more than a used car salesman or worse. Maybe there's some good ones, don't expect you'll find them. Only a fiduciary has your best interests in mind.

Mutual funds... be careful... you can lose a mint. S&P500 is a few companies.

if you are good at this and have the disposition for it, you can do well.

Best investments were in properties as the govt inflated everything. that's reversing...

When there is blood in the streets... buy. otherwise, read the intelligent investor, every buffet letter, dave ramsey, ray dalio and figure out what you should do. Id get very educated about how to invest, how to say either hell yes or hell no.

remember old taxman and inflation... eating your $. probably just get worse.

What investments? I don't have any because anything that is available seems at least on its face to be probably a scam. I don't have the time to do the research to find out whether or not something really is a scam and I'm certainly not going to trust anything I hear on YouTube videos or other internet sources about this. All of this just feels like bullshit to me and I am just going to save my money rather than risking it with a bunch of scammers.

We live in a tax free country meaning that when is time to retire we won't actually receive any type of pension. A few months ago my Partner told me how investing would be great for retirement so I give it a thought, did some research and thought I should try.

Yup. Here in the USA we also don’t receive a pension. The key to successful investing I’ve learned is to set aside a % each paycheck even before the money hits your checking account so that you never even see it. If you for example just elected to have 5% each paycheck applied to a 401k or whatever fund your financial professional advises then over time that fund will grow.
