Isn’t it counter productive to play dumb to evade jealous rivals?

I asked my cousin why she liked her boyfriend 19 years ago and she said she liked intelligent guys.

I asked my cousin why he liked her and she said, “because he thinks I’m innocent and dumb.”

Later her mother told me he chose her because she was the first place winner in a computer science competition when she did a different major in school.

I know a lot of smart people who pretend to be dumb so normal intelligence people will not be jealous of them.

But I think people get even more jealous if you play dumb.

In order to pull it off, you have to be _extraordinarily_ smart, _extraordinarily_ humble, _extraordinarily_ cautious. Just like with any deception. Deception is almost always a bad idea, even if it's a response to your enemies (1 Samuel 27, Exodus 1:15-21, Joshua 2, Hebrews 11, James 2:25). Doing it with someone who is not your enemy, is probably unjustifiable. You certainly should not be deceptive in any Mutual relationship. Family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, authority figure, someone under your authority, accountability partner.

If you are _perfect_, and deception used defensively against people intent on being your enemy, then you can pull it off John 2:19, John 7:8, John 7:10.

Sometimes it can actually help you if you play dumb, they might ignore you.
