There was no reason for me to think that holding a job was any different. In fact, from the moment that i had a job, i had bills to pay. NOT being able to pay those bills was literally never an option. Being unemployed was hell, literally and figuratively. Did you have the privilege of being able to quit jobs?
Yes , once. I worked for a company for 7 weeks. I was supposed to manage a group of engineers and technicians. It was not the job that I interviewed for but the owner liked the fact that I already had a job managing a technical services department. The company was pretty messed up. There was no oversight on any of the guys so I started reviewing all the tickets and told the people that the oldest tickets were assigned to give me the status of them. The guys complained to my boss that I was being unreasonable. I told my boss that I thought hat the job was to manage the staff and get the work done. He really had no answer to that.
He would put meetings on my calendar and then not show up for them. I would sit in an empty conference room for an hour, This happened more than once. I had ideas on how to make the department run better but nobody was interested. I noticed that there was a big turnover. The most senior engineer had only been there for a year. One day the HR director was fired. The owners brother became the HR director. Other people would leave as well and nobody would want to talk about it.
One day my boss drags me into the HR office and I find out I was fired. They would not tell me why I was being fired and even admitted that I showed up on time every day and that I did everything that was asked of me. It really was a strange place to work.
Yes. They bold-faced straight up lied to me during my interview. They said I'd get three months of training; I didn't. They gave me two weeks of observing before they put me on my own. Then they lied again a few weeks later to fire me. They said I'd been trained to the expected standards and given opportunities to correct my performance. Another lie. No one ever said anything to me. They just said they'd "noticed some performance issues" and never specified anything.
I was really shy about confrontation at that point. If I was the man then that I am now, I'd read the memo back to them and call out every lie in it and said "you'll be hearing from HR about this."

Well, technically I hot fired from my second job but I don't really count it because the guy was a stupid asshole and went out of business a couple months later. And I'm pretty sure it was because his staff who was there before me all walked out on him.
I've been fired from one job and honestly it was kind of their fault they had a really jacked up schedule where every single week was different days and hours and it was genuinely confusing sometimes getting your days and hours straight and sometimes they changed it at the last minute. Well I worked on a Sunday that week when I thought I was off so I didn't go in and open the place up so I got fired. Even though they had a revolving door of a schedule that constantly changed and changed it last minute.
Just once. I had only been there for 2 or 3 weeks and during the lunch break I realized that it wasn't working out. It was a very new business and they needed someone with a lot more experience. A couple of hours later they called me to the office and let me go. That was over 35 years ago.
Nope, never been fired technically. I was once contracted to work for a year and after the contract was up I had to leave. I didn't quit, but they didn't fire me technically. The contract was just over/fulfilled and it was not renewed. I completed the job they needed me for and they didn't need me for anything else. That's as close as I've come to "being fired"...
I've only quit one job, and that was when the people in charge asked me to start doing some very illegal things, and I wasn't willing to risk my medical license or my freedom to help them engage in their greed. In my profession, this is not uncommon, and I'm lucky it only happened once.
I guess I technically quit once when I finished college and was moving back home so I couldn't possibly have continued working there anymore, but quitting doesn't really seem like the right word for that situation. Otherwise, I'm on my second job only.

Yeah, but I didn't know it was imminent. Our supervisor had one on one meeting every two months. She had to cancel ours and never rescheduled. I didn't know that I was in danger of being let go.
