No, the education system plays a role in current events as much as any other government department. The standards for it haven’t really changed in over 100 years, and the current system is made to create factory workers, which is no longer considered the standard career one takes after finishing high school.

And I also don't know what you mean relative to this by a failure of the education system. As far as I know, people are still being educated. They just may not be being educated in the way that you want them to be. Is that what you're referring to?

Biggest example is Sheriff Gary McFadden being questioned about what branch of government he works for as law enforcement and neither knowing how many branches of government there is and thinking law enforcement falls under the judiciary.

The problem with education is it prepares you for today and not tomorrow. The world our parents were educated for is fast disappearing as is our own and the pace is quickening.
