A farmer's sheep are wandering off but he doesn't want to spend a lot on fencing so he asks an applied mathematician, an engineer and a pure mathematician to help. The applied mathematician says 'You should build a circular fence. Maximise the field enclosed for the cost of the fencing.'. The engineer shakes his head 'You should build a square fence. When you want to expand you can build another next to it.' The pure mathematician laughs, takes a piece of wire, wraps it around his waist and says 'I declare myself to be outside the fence.
I'm the third type.
lolol
Yes I would better than most. I'm creative and I can sometimes easily see solutions where others can't. That said I'm also childish and not overly bright when it comes to a lot of things. Other people blow right by me sometimes. The universe is complicated, no easy answers.
I am smart, but impulsive, which means that I am a smart person who often makes stupid mistakes… It’s a difficult combination, because I have quite high IQ and I do recognize my mistakes quite clearly, yet I am too emotional to prevent them sometimes.
Why can’t you just say street smart or book smart in the title question?
I’ve met brilliant “book-smart” people who freeze in real life, and quiet “average” students who handle chaos like seasoned CEOs.
In my 20+ years coaching, the people who thrive usually:
- Learn quickly from mistakes
- Stay calm under pressure
- Ask for help strategically
- Adapt to new info and environments
I’d say my own strength is judgment under uncertainty more than raw IQ—using enough knowledge, reading people well, and making a decent decision fast.
Instead of “smart or stupid,” ask:
“How fast do I learn, adapt, and execute when things get messy?”
Yeah? A long title isn't that catchy!

I don't know. I've posted a lot of my stories on here you guys tell me
I feel comfortable saying I’m both I have a bachelors degree which doesn’t make you smart, but I can think function and follow instruction.
I have extensive training in martial arts and self-defense and I usually carry a weapon so I’ve been able to prevent myself from being robbed twice, and I’ve been able to beat up everybody who tried to beat me up. I’ve prevented more violence from paying attention to being aware and I know what trouble looks like.
Smarter than most on Gag.
I have to deal with so many twats on here that I'm becoming an expert gynaecologist.
My intelligence level changes depending on the person I'm dealing with. If they act devilishly, I'll act like an idiot. Then, when the time comes, I'll trap them in their own snare, and it will become clear who is intelligent.
I'm quite humble but i do consider myself in the smart category. I am a cross between street smart and bookish smart and I have survived a lot to know I'd be able to survive the most wildest of storms. My mind over matter attitude speaks for itself.
Somewhere in the middle. I'll survive.
Well, I prolly come across as really stoopid in social settings and social media 'cuz I dont really take too much serious, myself included BUT I am 100 percent country girl , so, if shit hits the fan, I know how to survive. 😊
I only know what i know
I can be both
But i also can be wise
I can also could get myself backed in to a corner
That's when everything changes
And becomes a different question
I won't reply to the first two sub-questions.
As to the third question, I have been surviving very difficult situations by my wits alone.
I'm hanging in there.
I have been living by my wits since I was 17. I am still alive so I would imagine I have some measure of street smarts. I also have two Masters degrees so I can make myself have book smarts if I try hard enough.
I'm neither, I've been put in conditions where I had to be street smart like in mental hewlth wards but I've never done anything warranting book smarts.
I feel I am more wise than smart although the amount of general knowledge I have I am told is above average.
As a teenager, I was told I was the smartest, dumbest mother f***er they've ever met in their life. I took that to mean book smart, not street smart. I'd hope I've rounded out over the years.
Both. Have been for a long time. My lot has consistently outlined by drama. I live on my quick wit and slickness. It's no more an attribute than a defense mechanism.
More book smarts, but I’m surprisingly street smart for someone with a sheltered background
Street smart but I'm working on becoming somewhat booksmart I guess
I'm stupid in real life but I have a relatively high IQ.
I’m very educated and wise and I have experience.
I have survived a few hard or stupid situations in my time
Smart enough to know better than to ask a question like this.
I'm bookish smart, but awkward, shy, and clumsy in real-life situations.
I think I'm both kinds of smart
Neither but more book I think
Bookish smart
Not smart, not stupid, just a mixture of both lol
I'm pretty stupid 😔😭
Bookish smart.
I am stupid in general
