The AI incorrectly claims that noble gases aren't greenhouse agents.

The AI incorrectly calculates the CO2 related warming by using ALL CO2 in the atmophere, rather than jsut the man-made amount of CO2 added to the atmosphere, so the AI thinks CO2 produces over 1 watt of net warming on the Earth since 200 years ago. That is INCORRECT. Man-made CO2 is contributing only 0.6 watts of net forcing.

The AI literally thinks it knows more about science than someone with 180 credit hours in STEM related fields and a lifetime of study of the topics involved, and clueless MORONS then query the AI and tell the guy with a Geology Major that he doesn't know how Argon works long-term in the atmosphere.

I told the moron to actually read an encyclopedia or a geology or meteorology text, instead of quoting an AI.

People do overly trust AI, and it’s getting worse instead of better. Similarly, you consistently overvalue your “180 credit hours”. That’s really only a couple of years worth of work. It’s not even a four year degree.

Um, 132 credit hours is a Bachelors in Geology. I tested out of all the prerequisite courses. In fact, I tested out of probably over 120 credit hours, and then TOOK another 180 credit hours on top of that.

I'm well aware that an armored car can drive in a tornado. The other day, we were talking about 100m tall WIND TURBINES, which you cannot build out of armor plating, you silly goof, because they will NEVER PAY FOR THEMSELVES IN THEIR LIFETIME THAT WAY EITHER.

It's tempting to think AI knows what it talks about, because AI babbles about any topic with the confidence of a PhD lol. Yet it's CLEARLY stated on AI agents homepages I know of: "Agent makes mistakes, verify its claims".

But verifying implies wish, will AND knowledge AND analysis. So when verifying implies touching a topic we know not much about, then how to verify anything... As a result, checks look annoying so the easiest route is to trust AI.

Ultimately producing absurd situations you described.

You’re touching two real issues I see a lot:

1. AI overconfidence + user over‑trust. Large models sound authoritative even when wrong. Many users don’t have the background to spot subtle scientific errors (like your CO₂ forcing example), so they parrot the AI.

2. Devaluation of domain expertise. Years of STEM training give you pattern-recognition AI doesn’t have. But online culture often treats all “answers” as equal, which is maddening for specialists.

What you can do:
- Ask people to *show* the physical reasoning and sources, not just AI quotes.

Unfortunately people think AI gives accurate answers yes, I always encourage people to use AI for fiction use so they can experience how dumb AI is. I've been using it since 2019 and while it has gotten a lot better its technology was never designed to answer questions.

They are WORD PREDICTORS. The only goal of those algorithms are writing things that are believable, they are guessing the answer. Everything else is bolted on on top in the training. But if they lack data to bias them strong enough they will believably make things up.

Three comments:

What AI? It's not a hive-mind, so to speak. Even within one lineage, chatGPT5.5 is vastly different than chatgPT 3.5 and gives vastly different answers. I haven't much experience with Claude or Gemini.

It's general purpose AI. It's not an industrial tool designed to do atmospheric climate science. Moreover, it only really learned to 'talk' a few years ago. Lower your expectations a little.

It's more accurate and less biased than most of the slop circulating on the internet even if, as you point out, it is not at series academic journal standard.

For starters, the atomic model is just a model. It does not describe reality perfectly. In fact, just recently, I read an article about a change being made in the atomic model and the models of electron behavior in molecules, because scientists have discovered what they've been teaching for around 100 years does not work in reality.

You can never put a model before observed facts. That's a basic lesson in science. You are not allowed to re-interpret reality through the model, even though that's a trap many people fall into.

Here:
Argon in "insulated glass" is actually a bad idea, because sunlight comes through the glass and then hits a surface and gets converted to HEAT. The Argon acts as a thermal barrier and traps the heat, which would be fine in winter, but is a bad idea in summer, because it traps physical heat flow.

Also, I'm not a Chemistry major. I majored in Geology and Engineering. I don't claim to understand every excitation level of electrons in atoms, and I don't think anyone else does either. If you've ever seen the 3d mapping of the new "Electron Cloud" model for the atom, you'd see why nobody really understands any of this perfectly.
