I finished high-school at 16 with my As in my GCSEs & A levels. A levels being equivalent of the first two years of college in the us and usually done before a student in the uk turns 18 if they stay past 16. I went & did an apprenticeship to become and electrician and did a few Btechs as well. B techs being equivalent to the first two years of US college. I've various qualifications in various things such as welding and plumbing and can work at almost anything.

Thanks for the mho 🙂
I started going to college when I was about 35. It was at night and after working all day.
Since I hadn't been to school in so many years, I was pretty rusty with my math skills so I had to take 2 semesters of math and hated it!
I wanted to be a social worker if I had finished.37 Reply- 17 d

🙂↔️ No I didn't.
But I did get my certificate to be a Unit Secretary in a hospital. 🏥 And that was very hard to pass that test. But I managed to get an A.
Learning medical terminology is hard because it comes from Latin and makes no sense at all so it's all done by memorization. - 17 d
@exitseven
What did that entail? 🤔 - 17 d
I had to research what other colleges were doing and I visited a college in Maine that was running a program that looked like what I wanted. I visited the college and the guy who ran it was nice enough to talk to me about it. I needed it to be associated to a hospital so I went back to the hospital where I used to work and talked to some people there.
Then it had go through the academic senate. It was a long process.
I volunteered for this because I had hoped that after it was implemented I would be the one to run it and teach some of the courses.
After all that , the Vice President that wanted to have this program took a better job at another college nd the whole thing died after she left.

Yes. I did my undergraduate degree in economics, then later completed an MBA at Harvard.
Studying economics gave me a strong foundation in analytical thinking, data, and how systems work—very useful for both business and career coaching. The MBA then broadened that into leadership, strategy, and organizational behavior.
In practice, the specific major matters less than the skills you build: critical thinking, communication, and the ability to learn fast. If you share your interests, I can suggest majors and paths that align with your goals.00 Reply

All aspects were/are equal:
- Technological applications in various materials

- Technical drawing/s
- Practical production skills
- Accounting, book keeping analysis and financial control systems
- Business-law, labour law and ship related laws
- Educational science focussed on training adolescents

16 dBS was Graphic Design and Communications (with a Photography minor) then an MBA, major in Methods and Procedures, double minor in HR and Stats- then Certified as a Massage Therapist for the last 30+ years. Typical career path, right? ;-)
It is amazing at how much transfers over from area to area, though. I still use Graphics Communications in many ways - newsletters, handouts for others, photography, and of course I handle all the books for my business and wife's business, as well as the family finances.

17 dI went one year. Was studying business management but by the end of the freshman year my company was already making more for me than I could have made working for someone else even with the degree, and it has gotten much, much better since. Being your own boss is challenging by far more rewarding when it works out.

What jobs did you pull with that?
No, I'm a career salesman, although most of the good sales jobs are long gone today. About the only sales jobs left are the two worst ones: new cars or real estate.

Yeah honestly, financially speaking it's not a very good decision to choose social science xD. I'm actually not earning much more than in the trade job I learned before I went to uni. But hey at least I'm not wearing down my health down and not doing shift and weekend work anymore :D student loans do suck tho XD
