So thoughts, should schools start late or just give kids the day off?

Staying up late to support ones country is the real story. Newspapers notiouriously big up "a sip of beer" or the worst family they can find for headline sensations. So the main thing is staying up seeing as England VS Mexico is 1am here for us in UK. I think it should be a bank holiday !
Well if you want my personal opinion, alcohol is far more dangerous for small children than it is for adults. Because of their lower body weight and developing bodies, even a small sip can cause impaired balance, slurred speech, and severe low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Ingesting unintended amounts can lead to central nervous system depression, coma, or even death.
I don't think giving the kiddies the day off school will help the parents hangover so NO.
Further I doubt it has been done out of consideration for the kiddies hangovers because they have no power.
I am sure it was instituted by lazy arsed teachers out of consideration for THEIR hangovers.
in America there is talk bout having th day after the Superbowl a national holiday for the same reason. So yes it would be a good idea.
If i gotta go to work hungover, they can go to skool hungover. Them books ain’t gonna read themselves!
Does England have a huge problem with children boozing it up?
That says an awful lot about so-called parental control.
England only has one more game in the World Cup, so it really doesn't matter. 😉
If they are kids and have a hangover they are problem kids with terrible parents!
I think it should be considered since it's nearly summer break anyway
France would have called but even their wifi was too fucked up to respond..
Sounds fair.
bloody ridiculous

As a parent and advisor, I’d say neither: keep school times the same and don’t give the day off.
Starting late or canceling school effectively rewards staying up drinking, normalizes underage alcohol use, and undercuts parents who set limits. Schools should:
- Keep the normal schedule.
- Treat illness/hangover like any other absence.
- Use it as a teachable moment about choices, health, and responsibility.
Fun events are fine, but part of growing up is learning to enjoy them without sabotaging the next day.
