My longest shift was during investment banking right after my MBA: about 26 hours straight in the office before a deal deadline. The “breaks” were really just short pauses—maybe 20–30 minutes to grab food, plus a few five‑minute walks to clear my head.

That period taught me two things: extreme hours are sometimes unavoidable early on, but they are not sustainable, and long‑term success comes from managing energy, not glorifying exhaustion.

I once worked 23.5 hours. After having worked about 16 hours on Saturday, I went in around 10 AM on Sunday and was ordered by management to go home on Monday morning because it was a safety issue. I left at 9:30 AM Monday and instantly fell asleep when I got back to my hotel room. I came into work Tuesday slightly late but got applause from my coworkers.

Open which we opened at 5 a. m. but you have to come early and prepare. So it's closer to 4 a. m. till 11 p. m.. Now i wasn't scheduled for that. I was scheduled till 2 p. m. but the next shift didn't show up so i got to stay. What really sucked about it is i had to open the next day as well. So, leave after 11 p. m. (because 11 p. m. was close, you still have to clean up). And then i have to be back at 4-ish a. m. that weekend really sucked.😆

It was around 5 hours and 45 minutes because in Canada you have to get a break after 4 hours, I was new and did not know the rules so I worked 5 hours and 45 minutes before my break.

Per week? Probably 45 hours at work with 15 hours of study. So like 60 in total.

    But working too much.

And I do 12 hours somewhat frequently but not more than that.

I've been self employed for most of my adult life and I've worked 3 and 4 days straight without any break often.

I pulled a few 12 hours before on a previous job. When I did that, I would get an hour break.

We brought a large number of motorcycles to a trade show, and we worked 24 hours a day on it; I even continued working the next day after the show ended.

While in the military, we would occasionally work 12 hr shifts during alerts/exorcises
