Is Olive Garden the best you can find? Yuk. So for any job:

* No matter the position for ANY job, personal hygiene is the VERY first thing that your interview will notice. Make sure you show up in clean, conservative clothes that won't offend the corporate mind. Be impeccably clean yourself, and don't overdo the perfume if you wear any. Keep jewelry and rings to a minimum, and no long fake nails.

* If you're going to be a server, make sure you're so freaking exuberant and friendly that the interviewer can't resist your personality, but don't do that by talking too much. Smile a lot.

* This is a big one: do your OWN research on the company. Know something about them. You're going to get asked WHY you want to work there? Are you a team player? Are you punctual? Are you willing and able to go the extra mile if needed on short notice? Be prepared for all that.

* Summarize for them WHY you'd be an ASSET for their company, and WHY they want you on their team. At some point, any good interviewer will ask about your interpersonal skills. Tell them you're not only a good listener, but you have a great memory for details. They love that shit.

Start talking about the tasting notes you have for the food there. Compare their olive sauce to other olive oils from around the world.

You should also be prepared for them to quiz you on the menu, it's good to know every ingredient as well as it's country of origin. You may have to ask the chef while you wait to be interviewed as these managers tend to be very busy in the back doing 4th grade math.

Make sure you tell them they're doing a good job so they know you're easy to work with.

Any employer for any job wants to know 3 things, can you do the job? Will you do the job? Will you fit in?

can you do the job? Just demonstrate you're not an idiot. They've already decided you can from your application so don't blow it by flopping simple technical questions like "what should you do after using the toilet?"

Will you do the job? He wants to know you'll turn up every day and actually do something. Emphasises you want a steady reliable job and the stability of knowing you've a wage coming in every month.

Will you fit in? Don't express political views, don't wear your MAGA cap, don't bitch about how your last employer used the wrong pronouns, or how you once dealt with another employee disrespecting you by head butting them.

I think most system restaurant chains are so desperate for working personal they will hire even a Pakistani yak farmer as long as he doesn't defecate on customer tables.
It's not a job I would put tight mini business suit and heels on, not even makeup.

What job? Dishwasher, waitress, hostess, line cook, chef, front end manager, bartender, clearing tables? Corporate chain restaurants tend to deal with high employee turnover. Getting a job there isn't particularly difficult because the jobs don't pay very well and the hours can be tough. Do you have any experience in restaurant operations? Do you understand the big picture of turning over tables and how the retail hospitality industry in general measures profits? What's your end game? Do you want to become a restaurant manager someday?

Do you have any prior experience? If so that will help you land the job, just be friendly and polite and smile , especially if you want to be a waitress , you are going to be interacting with customers a lot , so they want someone that is good with people and can multi task when taking orders. If you don’t have any prior experience then it might be a little harder for you to land it , but kill them with kindness and be respectful and polite as much as possible and wear something nice. I think the best thing with these kind of interviews is , basically 1. Presentation 2 . Commitment 3 . Knowing something about the place that others won't bring up.

Learn the history / best sellers / ownership / locations all this kind of stuff , make notes.

Now if the interviewer doesn't bring this up , wait till the end and you bring it up , virtually no one else will do this , have a meal there couple of days prior , make notes , express ideas , procedure , the stuff you love.

This seperates you , makes sure they remember you , and gets you promoted quickly , get them talking , if they talk with passion about something, keep them going.. tell them " I see how that really works " , it's a value venue , but make small suggestions.

It's an easy one to study.

Aim higher. At your age you should be looking for a career. You're too old to be working at olive garden. Unless you're retirement age and need something to do or some college or school aged kid I'd get it. But you're 25+
