What Girls & Guys Said

2 hWhen i was like 18 or 19, my girlfriend at the time and I got jobs at a convenience store for the summer. We were moving out of the area in the fall. It was basically a 4-person show: the two of us, the store manager, and this elderly lady who had a set 6 AM-12 PM schedule every weekday. My girlfriend and I were the PM shifters, between the two of us. Honestly was a terrible plan because it gave us conflicting schedules, but that’s another story, haha.
So one night, my girlfriend got robbed at gunpoint on duty. She was thankfully unharmed, but she was obviously very shaken up. It was a whole thing, the cops of course came, the district manager showed up, all that. And I went down there to be there for her, for emotional support.
This district manager, who we’d never met or heard of before, was a real piece of work. After the cops left, he starts asking who’s going to finish the shift. Finish the shift? Bro, there’s like an hour and fifteen minutes left. She’s totally freaked out, and I need to drive her home and get her settled down. We got fuckin’ robbed, my G, with not much time left on the clock; CALL IT DAY. God forbid one shiny nickel roll out the door🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️…
This asshole starts talking about “what if someone needs a gallon of milk?” I was like “Buddy, there a two 24 hour spots within light walking distance from here. They’ll buy the milk there.” I’m not out here making $7 an hour to Superman for someone on the odd chance they wanted to bake cookies at 11:00 at night, lmao
Anyway, he’s all yadda yadda “OR ELSE”, I’m sure I told him to fuck himself in 19 year old unbridled WhiteSteve fashion, since I was just missing on two weeks of paychecks at that point.
And that’s the story of how my ex-girlfriend and I got to spend a couple weeks just working on our late-summer tans at the beach😂00 Reply- 1.9K opinions shared on Education & Career topic.
4 hA jealous rival offered to take over my shift 20 minutes before she was supposed to so I let her because I thought she was doing me a favour, she ended up stealing $40 from the cash register and it looked like I stole it because the theft happened while I was clocked in and not while she supposed to clock in after me.
The boss did not fire me but he said he would call me when he wanted me to work my next shift and he never called me after mentioning that $40 cash removal incident to me. I could have explained what happened and gotten her fired, but I did not really care about that job since I did not need the money.
The reason she was jealous of me was that she only had a high school diploma and the boss took advantage of her lack of job experience by making her wait 3 months for her first pay cheque, while I was paid within 7 days because I had a university degree. She thought I was unfairly favoured by the boss because I had better qualifications than her so she tried to get me fired in revenge.

I’ve never been fired, but this horrible weasel came along as a manager at my job at Publix when I was 19 and he wanted me to resign at my job and my neighbors had a fit. I they thought I should’ve protested it that the guy is just a weasel and he was new to the company. He was giving me problems from the last two months. But I lasted on the job for 10 months before he came a long
02 ReplyDidn't get fired, but it was a summer job program. They didn't renew the program because they said I was working harder than the boys. Majority of the people working there were men, so it didn't look right to them.

OMNG! I swear, you cannot make this stuff up

Adding salt to injury, All the participants were related to someone who works there. the week before I had to leave, I made about 50 cupcakes and handed it out. They gave me a male partner the whole time i was there. He was supposed to help me with any heavy lifting, but he would just take long bathroom breaks. When i made the cupcakes, he was found eating them in the breakroom instead of helping me. Also, since I had to leave earlier than the rest. they bought me food to say thank you, and said they were only buying it for me because i worked. Since i left, they got stuck with only the boys for a whole nother week
Whatever happened that week, my uncle called and said they're not renewing the program.

Nepotism. It's the worst.
You knew you were leaving and still baked them cupcakes? At least they returned the favor.
Why did you join a male dominated company anyways? - 2 h
It was a good summer job, why wouldn't I? I just wanted to bake cupcakes just because. Now I was making my lunch, and I did share some with the boys. Then they asked if I could fix them a plate too, and they'll pay me.
I said no to that, Im not doing it, but the cupcakes were just a one-time thing. - 2 h
What job was it?
Really? I've never had an American offer to pay me for ANYTHING - 2 h
Go for it

Knock on wood I have never been fired from a job & don’t give them a reason to fire me.
So why did you get fired from your job?
111 ReplyWhat was the miscommunication?
How do you know there was a miscommunication?
Sounds like you were wrongfully terminated & hopefully you are not in a right to work state because if you are they can fire you without a reason. Honestly if your place of employment has a corporate office I would contact them & really rattle chains.
What did you do on the job?
Depending on where you live there are other bakeries & hopefully other ones are hiring.
How long did you work there before being fired?
Rushing to do a price check for a cashier at a hardware store. I accidentally bumped into a customer that stepped into my path. It wasn't a particularly hard bump, but they complained to the store manager who fired me.

Oh my God! This freakin country man
- 4 h
The customer is an idiot and an asshole too! "Greatest nationality on earth", yet they'll sue you/fire you for simply breathing on them
- 4 h
No they AREN'T. That's probably what I got fired for. Why should I have to put up with disrespect?
- 4 h
OMG! It would drive me MAD, when people thought they knew my job better than me.
That's why it's great to own your own business. You don't have to take shit. - 3 h
I think people got more assholish after COVID.
Military people are the WORST, especially since you think military people would understand and respect that you have orders and procedures to follow - 3 h
I told one before, "You guys get enough free stuff."
And another one, "if you were 100% disabled, you'd be a corpse."
My other favorite were, "If you can afford a houseboat, you can afford the $8 parking fee."
And the one that was always a classic was when they bitched about not getting the $1 senior discount, I would tell them, "Take it as a compliment, you look young."
But for real though. Some Aussie girl said a US veteran threw a hissy fit, because he was told, "the discount is only for AUSTRALIAN veterans."
I swear, American soldiers are the most entitled people on the fucking planet. - 3 h
I blame conservatives for this, for kissing their asses. Okay, if you were drafted by force, you deserved some reperations. But if you enlisted by CHOICE of your own free will, why should I give you special treatment?

4 hI couldn't tell you, because in my state there's a dumb law that they don't have to tell you why they're firing you. So I can only speculate.

Oh it's YOU! You changed you picture.
No, but I heard about a guy that happened to. Well, he didn't actually get fired 'cuz it was HIS business, but a bunch of women pressed charges.
But I did ask a troll question on here before saying I got fired from a show store after they found out about my foot fetish. It never actually happened
3.6K opinions shared on Education & Career topic. I was fired and they would not tell me why. They even admitted that I showed up n time every day and did everything they asked me to do.

In my late 20s, I was consulting part‑time for a startup while doing my MBA. I got “fired” because I kept pushing them to validate their business model with real customers instead of chasing vanity metrics for investors.
The founder told me, word for word: “You’re too negative. We need someone who believes in the vision, not in spreadsheets.”
Six months later, the startup ran out of cash for exactly the reasons in those “negative” spreadsheets. It taught me: right advice at the wrong place can still get you shown the door.
