Unless you have direct evidence that some sort of racism is involved, you can't make the claim that the Oscars are "white-washed." More likely is that there just weren't any outstanding minority performances last year.
People are nominated not because of their ethnicity and race but for their talent

so there are no talented minorities? I mean surely there can't have been an entire 5 years for example, that there was not one single minority of any race with any talent whatsoever.
How long has it been since there was a 5 year stretch that no minorities were nominated for Oscars? I don't remember any in my (admittedly short) lifetime. But it must have been decades?
Why does there always have to be a racial conspiracy? Should they try to encourage a but of a demographic change in the academy to include more women and minorities? Probably.
But is it possible that it just happens that this year happens to be a year in which the top performers happened to not be minorities? Maybe.
No everything that doesn't work out for blacks is a KKK conspiracy. Like lead in the water in Flint, MI. That's a terrible situation. But it's not racist.
Nope. To say that anything is "too (insert racial group)" is stupid and offensive. But do tell: which "minorities" were entitled to an award nomination this year, and why?
How about the poor that didn't get a role in any movies black white don't matter. Shouldn't they be the first to get an oscar if they're just handing them out like that?
I think that's her point, that the people who do decide are on average never going to watch an all minority cast movie or predominantly minority, especially one that focuses on issues within those communities. And that the system is flawed because of this.
The very fact that minority ethnic actor have been chosen in the past suggests they do.
If you really think that having more diversity in the Oscar nominations will help, by all means, add more POC. It won't help, because they'll just come to same conclusions...
Mexicans have been shit on for years by Oscar. Fact

If the academy was 94% Caucasian but had more people closer to the newer generation you'd see a major difference. Bring new people into the voting process of varying ages and races.

yeah, I'm not really saying these people are racist. I mean, I don't know them enough to say that about their character, but I'm sorry, how many 62 year olds, regardless of race would have gone out to see Creed or Straight out of Compton. I mean, even the academy jokes about how out of touch they are in some of their intros and how half of the movies, people haven't even actually seen or have barely heard of.
I'm white and I call bull on that. Whites are good actors but there are some good other races.(blacks, etc...) but then again I don't watch American stuff. European films are better.
lmao An acting preference. That's a thing now? Why do brown people even go to acting school, if their skin automatically makes them less than a person with white skin.

@CheerGirl38139 Thanks for backing me up
Since 1985 only two non-black players have been the NBA MVP.
Maybe just MAYBE it doesn't have to do with race.
The Academy's worldview issues should be of greater concern than how vanilla they are.

white actors dominate the scene... and its extremely competitive
Its not About exclusion but who is doing a better job
isn´t assuming racism just because there happen to be more white actors nominated racism?
Probably yes.
On the other hand i haven't paid any attention to the oscars in decades. If you don't work in the industry, i don't understand the interest.

I am Sure Barqck Hussein Obama will have something stupid to say like usual.
Maybe he can tax winners more like he does for the rest of us
Are you an idiot? He had nothing to do with the taxation of the middle class.
If a minority had an Oscar-winning role this year, the ywould be chosen... since there hasn't, it's gone to a white actor.
That's not true. Many of them did and the ones chosen instead weren't good.
It's not up to you to decide that though ;)
I think that's her point, that the people who do decide are on average never going to watch an all minority cast movie or predominantly minority, especially one that focuses on issues within those communities. And that the system is flawed because of this.
Yes they DO... it's THEIR job.
How on Earth are they supposed to choose.
The very fact that minority ethnic actor have been chosen in the past suggests they do.

How is it Elizabeth Moss wasn't nominated for Queen of Earth?
I don't know enough of the quality of good Actors to say if the nominaties are right
Whites are constantly oppressing minorities. Nothing new here.
No, if black have no oscar it's because white are better actor
I'm white and I call bull on that. Whites are good actors but there are some good other races.(blacks, etc...) but then again I don't watch American stuff. European films are better.
That's true european movie are better. I don't tell that black are not good some of them have oscar. It's just that I find White better actor.
lmao

@vishna I JUST tell that in all the actor who were present in oscar, I find White actor better than black. Where is the problem, serious?
