If you live in Europe, it's highly impossible not have heard about Eurovision song contest.
It's like one of the biggest events.
However if you are an American and you have no idea what I'm talking about, basically it's a contest where every country sends a song and the one with the most votes from the public wins.
It doesn't sound something great, but it is. Ok?
So yeah,I kinda had a conversation with @pitzi a while ago on the topic and decided to write a take about my favorite songs in Eurovision.
Poland - My Słowianie (2014)
The song just states the truth that everyone knows.
We,Slavics girls are indeed the best.
How do you want me not to love a song that is basically talking about us and our beauty?
Slovenia - Round And Round (2014)
Loved it.
Like seriously I was kinda so obsessed with this song that my dad payed... let's just say a lot of money because I voted too many times in order for it to win.
Sadly it didn't but hey,at least I got it as one of my ringtones.
Israel - Golden Boy (2015)
Okay I'm a bit biased with this one since this song was sent in in 2015 that happened to be the year I went for vacation in Tel Aviv, Israel, and had the best time...But boy...
I'M A GOLDEN BOYYYYYYYYYYYY, COME HERE TO ENJOYYYY I'M THE KIIIINGGG OFF FUNNNNNNNNNNNN
Moldova - O Mie (2013)
Never really understood why I liked this song so much, I couldn't even understand the lyrics (still can't understand a word of it), but yeah it just did it for me.
Plus, I don't know, there are half naked fit men dancing the backround...Maybe that played a role
Sweden - Euphoria (2012)
Sweden sent manyyyy great songs in Eurovision, like seriously I don't know how they do it every year...
But I think none of them will ever as good as this one. It wa spretty iconic.
And lying is bad, Loreen probably did one of the best live performances in the history.
Greece - My number 1 (2005)
Okay if you are my age, a bit younger or older and you had seen this eurovision... There isn't a way you don't remember that song.
It was like the super top hit in Europe for MONTHS, we danced it in all the kindergarden parties lmao and I was always the super popular kid there cause I made my mum find the same dress the singer wore and buy it on my size so I can have it in every single party.
Yeah I guess I'm biased again.
Austria - Rise Like A Phoenix (2014)
First of all the lyrics are lit and insiprational.
Second, this person has some strong vocals people.
And third, I just adored that Conchita brought the revolution in Eurovision, she was different and no matter how many people hated on her... She went there, left anyone with mouth opens and won.
*slow clapping*
Now that’s what I call a boss.
Russia - You Are The Only One (2016)
*You didn't really think I forgot my country now, did you?*
This was probably the only song that we sent to Eurovision and I liked so much.
I love my country more than anything but people... EUROVISION ISN'T OUR STRONG SPOT..
Like some of the entrances were that bad that I would change the chanel whenever our songs was playing out of shame.
But this one?
This one makes me feel like a proud mother.
Everything was perfect about it, from melody to stage presence.
We simply nailed it that year and should have won but...meh whatever.
