It's erasure of white, European folklore.

See furore over white people playing non white characters.

Ignorance is bliss you're comparing a African backround fictional human vs a Mythical creature fictional fish that isn't real under the sea, do you see how stupid you really are guy

@Fuentes You want to talk about ignorance. I am comparing a fictional African to a fictional dutch story character. Don't play the location card if you want to throw out one of the locations, BOTH are fictional, therefore BOTH are either static or fluid, you can't change one and not be willing to change the other.
The people who think this is ok are not helping society. If black people think the media checking a social justice checkbox makes them equal... it's no different than giving a kid with down syndrome an athletic medal so he feels like he's part of the team. You SHOULD be angered.
This isn't progression. Black people are not underrepresented in movies. This is stupid nonsense.
Here's a list for those who play that card.

Black Panther = a real man with a futuristic bionic suit powered by rare itens versus a mythical creature under the sea that isn't REAL are you hear to tell me mermaids are buddy? So to summarize what i said one is fictional human thats real and the other is a fictional mythical imaginative creature fish that isn't real so if you're trying to argue that, Mrmermaids are real you're not only ignorant but DELUSIONAL at that

Also to let you know i know it's all a plot to stir up more racial tension today as you clearly see it's been down but to keep people from coming together they need more tension thr issue at hand is ignorant people such as yourself becoming explodinngly angry over a color and letting this issue if a cartoon bug you that you reach this far to prove a point it's sad

      @Fuentes BOTH FICTIONAL. BOTH!
Regardless of your justification. BOTH ARE FICTIONAL. Therefore regardless of one being a FICTIONAL "human"... he is still FICTIONAL.
*You get this FICTIONAL part yet? or do you need a definition of FICTIONAL?

      fic·tion·al /ˈfikSH (ə) n (ə) l/
relating to fiction; invented for the purposes of fiction.

synonyms: fictitious, invented, imaginary, imagined, made up, make-believe, unreal, fabricated, concocted, devised, mythical, storybook, the product of someone's imagination.

Therefore, one last time. This character is FICTIONAL... the product of someone's imagination, make-believe, invented, mythical... it's all synonymous.

Therefore... if a story needs an African and they pick someone black, A Norse fable will require a Norse person or at least be representative of the original story.

The ONLY reason Disney picked a black girl is that Disney is infested with feminist/social justice poison and therefore needed to push their agenda.

Last point: I never said mermaids were read. (Learn to read), and trying to claim I'm the ignorant one just shows your mental capacity.

@Fuentes ALSO... the little mermaid was only a cartoon in the fact that disney made it from a Norse fairytale.
Hans Christian Anderson wrote this story. It was NOT a cartoon.

"Den lille havfrue" was published in 1837

REACHING so hard lol so funny am. i too smart for you buddy? Seems so, i most really be hurting your reality guy that's sad but anyway a cartoon and book don't correlate with eachother almost every book turned into a Cartoon Movie or Just a plain movie with actors was never the same as the book, always different... So let's bring up another example Black Panther came from a traditional African tribe in East Africa, that has a true meaning just like Mulan a traditional character in China that repersents honor or we can even go as far as Lion King making it a Lion in the jungle, do you get it because those are all real scenarios which makes that fictional story more real , would not make sense at all and though it's fiction black panther could be real it's his bionic suit giving him power, Mulan was just a girl who joined her Army, that could happen and Lions have their own lifes, again Mermaids are imaginary they're not REAL so how can you make up a color for them or deem then as a race? You can't therefore because it's not real that charcters fictional story can be told with that mermaid being any color, so since you're trying to educate yourself you should look up ignorance because thats all your about.

That's like Making the fictional Movie Nazi Zombies taking place in WW2 era but the Nazi's aren't just mainly German, they're now all predominately African Zombies Nazi Soldiers... that would be non sense & just stupid because WW2 is something that actually Happen so it has a real back story, and even though zombies aren't real it wouks be right if they were Nazi soldiers... do you get it?

@Fuentes You keep throwing shaming tactics out there, they don't make the statements less valid.
      You think you're smart.
"i too smart for you buddy?" I think you mean "Am I too smart for you buddy?"
"i most really be hurting your reality" again... you mean "I must really be hurting your reality"
      *Just saying.

Most books/stories keep a fairly consistent character cross overs in the movies unless there is an agenda pushing the change. But, yes, the story usually changes.

SnowWhite, Cinderella, Alice, Red Riding Hood, Robin Hood, Hercules, Thor, etc. ALL stay relative to the original story.

You ONLY see character change when an agenda needs to be validated and checkboxes need to be checked.
This should anger you, I don't get why you are for it. It's essentially treating your demographic as challenged children needing special treatment to appease you.

It's saying, "Since we don't think you can do things yourselves. We are going to inject you in roles just so you don't get uppidy".
This should piss you off man.

@Fuentes and FYI: Mulan is based on a real person.

and when even petty school productions replace non-white characters with white characters, other groups go batshit crazy.

So no one seems to care when it's removing white... but when it's removing another race for white... you all get your panties in a bunch.

Oh a grammar nazi, you're trying to pick out at least one letter spelt wrong if you could not figure out what was said im afraid you might be dyslexic buddy also Funny because did you know Cinderella was White & Then Black and then turned back to White? So what's this again about removing white? The next time children have a play or something we should tell all kids they can't be the main character because it has to be the same person each time, shutting down creativity and imagination for young people and yeah but aspects of Mulan is fictional come on Mushu the talking dragon? Haha anyway, im nit for anything that's race baiting Humans to out agaisnt eachother but i am for creativity and imagination. I fail to see what a down syndrome kid has to do with functioning children thats another reach of yours im assuming but yeah thise group of people going batshit are all IGNORANT that's why they're upset

@Fuentes Not a grammar nazi... but your attempt at yet another shaming tactic fails.
I only pointed out your crappy spelling because you claimed to be smarter than myself. Which is nowhere near accurate.
You seem to really enjoy schoolyard shaming tactics, which simply shows you have no valid arguments. I am not dyslexic and I didn't look for "one letter spelled wrong". You literally wrote that you were smarter than myself and followed it with two poorly crafted sentences. I thought it was funny enough to point out.

And if you are referring to the 1997 black take on cinderella, that was NOT cinderella "turning black" it was a black adaptation of the white European based story. Just like "Wiz", the black take on the wizard of oz. This is NOT the same as replacing a character in a story. It's an adaptation.

In regards to the "children having a play" it does appear that we have to tell our children they can't be in a play if they are white and the character is "not"... but not the other way around. That shit is congratulated.

I agree with the creative and imagination statement.
But there is nothing "creative" about socially injecting race characters in roles just to feed an agenda.

My reference to the downs kid, is simply pointing out that society treats "special" groups differently to make them feel good about themselves and you should find it insulting that they are doing it to your race.

So how do we know that Ariel is being completely replaced? And it's not what you call "Black Adaption" ? You must be cold hearted towards children if you would tell a child that, the youth will be the future why would you shut down their minds? Over fictional charcters in a play? You sick man and im not gonna get into the history that blacks have gone through in the US alone more then anyone else in this country, so i could see why some groups of "people" would love to feel good once in awhile but i know what they're doing but what i don't like is the ignorant remarks and the severe reaching being made to defend your points.. it shows pure ignorance and extreme reaching so if your gonna do that expect other to come back with that same statement which i can't be refuted because what i say makes full on sense

@Fuentes Because the entire cast hasn't be made into black cast members.
Wow, your shaming tactics have gone to a new low. Where in the hell do you dig up that I am cold-hearted to children? That's pathetic.

The black adaption films are quite happy to make mention that they are just that.
This rebranding of ariel is nothing close to the same.

I never told children they can't play other characters in a play... it's folks like yourself who get up in arms when black is replaced by white but have no issue replacing white with other races.. (See link provided earlier).

And I also won't get into the history of blacks in the US because like yourself, neither of us were part of that world history... it was long before either of us were born and I would not argue of something our ancestors did.

Nothing I said was "reaching". You don't have to like it, but that doesn't make it untrue.
Calling it ignorant simply because you don't like it simply shows that you are unable to handle anything outside of your current mindset. You have to villanize it and try to marginalize it to feel like it isn't worth dealing with. because that makes it easier for you than having to admit you are wrong.

I clearly called the new female role of 007 as a black female retarded so how on earth do i not care about whites being replaced i am no racist & i live with everyone i love humans but i hate brainless zombie humans who are not awake and nope im not up. in arms i actually like to correct people with delusions and ignorance because it's so easy because people aren't smart they just talk out of their butt. Yes you did reach which in the beginning which made me respond was "The Black Panther should have been a white person it's only fair" that whole statement was nothing but pure ignorance and a full on reach

@Fuentes How am I supposed to know you said this unless you wrote it here or I research you?

But, If they are replacing 007 as a black woman, they are doing the same bullshit again but are check two boxes this time. Not only do they check off the color box, but they also check off the gender box. This movie will 100% be garbage, because ANY character who is injected for social justice reasons, ruins a plot. Not simply because of the forced character trade-off, but because the character itself is usually written full of political nonsense.
*Someone will at some point in the movie mention how she is a female and will question her ability, she will prove them wrong by being smarter and more talented than all other James bond characters. Typical of a mary sue characters.

I never claimed you were racist.

My statement wasn't a reach it was a statement made out of absurdity to show how ridiculous the race swap shit is when you look at it in opposition.
