  Elvis Presley was known as the king of rock and roll. He was a huge part of the Sun Records era of rockabilly music along with Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins. He was much more of a performer than a writer, but that was also during a time when it was common for lots of artists to all play each other's songs, and even write songs for a specific other artist to record.
