I am a big fan of Kinkade because I can relate to his paintings and because I understand them. I don't need to move my head sideways to make sense of a more surrealistic piece of art.
But there are a number of other artists I like and I still remember those Bob Ross reruns on TV. I was always amazed how the guy could finish a painting in 20 minutes flat and it looked so nice, though most of the time very similar in style. But that was his trademark and I immensely liked his character and charisma.
I love art and there is another painter that does amazing canvases. His name is Kevin Hill. He does an amazing job in doing nature paintings like the ones found on his web page. I will not advertise here but check his website for some very nice nature pictures.
Went there. Nature paintings... I LOVE IT! :)
I think they're beautiful botany of th are very similar to one another which gets a little boring. He should mix it up a bit. He has great talent. He should step out of his comfort zone and try some thing new.
Unfortunately. he died in 2012 so this is all we're going to get.
*but many
Didn't realize he died but he did make beautiful paintings.
Yes! :)
We have several of his prints hanging up in our house, you can sometimes feel that you're actually in the picture yourself. He was certainly a brilliant and very gifted artist.
I didn't know I loved that painting style until right now!
I prefer the classics, but that is absolutely fantastic work.
Yes!
Kinkade is technically good, but I don't care for his presentations. In his paintings, every window of every house is lit up, and you just don't see that in real life. Also, there's usually a house or church next to a beautiful stream. Would anyone actually build such a structure in a flood zone? I also heard about him having other artists painting pictures for him, and he just signs them.
I like Steve Hanks. He usually does pictures of people, and they're so accurate they look like photographs.
He idealizes his visions: but I agree - a house seldom has ALL the lights lit.
Love his stuff, I have some of his original pieces.
Nice!

He's an excellent illustrator. Some people would challenge whether or not to call him an artist because his work isn't particularly creative. It doesn't make you think. In fact, it does the opposite.
That being said, I do find his work pleasing. I really like idyllic country homes and cottages, streams, ponds, pathways, stone bridges, and of course landscapes. They remind me of certain types of Christmas cards.
His home town of Placerville is near where I live now. He has a store where you can buy his prints and, if you pay extra, an "artist" in the store will dab on extra accents of "light" on flowers. lol
Kinkade is nothing if not commercial. He sure has made a pile of money.
I'm not sure what is my favorite style of art. I don't have a favorite artist. I like all kinds of things. Other things I don't like. It's a matter of personal taste. Simple as that. I do enjoy art museums.
I've liked Kinkade's style of art. I was very disappointed when a few years ago, it was revealed that he didn't himself paint many of his painting. He apparently hired people to paint his style, and sold them as if he painted them. It's been quite a while since I read about this, so the detail are no longer clear to me.
That is sad, I have never heard that :(
I guess he looked at it like a "Ghost Writer" but is disappointing if true.
I could not find what I read some time back. However, I did find that following his death, Kinkade's signature was showing up on new paintings. This was because at his studios, people who had trained by him, and who thus developed extremely similar styles, were painting new pictures, and putting his name on them. Apparently, they are so similar to Kinkade's paintings, that they can't be distinguished between his paintings and the understudy's.
Sad again that they are trying to cash in on forgeries.
He certainly is talented, but not my favorite. I'm more into dark art think H. R. Geiger

Yes, Halloween is coming up :) ... lol
Having a degree in Communications and Graphics, I can appreciate the technique of just about any type of art, from "paintings of light" to self-portraits, quilts, Jackson Pollack "drips", or even the latest tattoos. I really don't have a "favorite" style or genre of art. That said, TK is arguably the most accomplished in the "painting of light" style, even though he does take a few liberties at times regarding the angles of incidence of the light, reflections, etc.
I like his style but it's so "commercial" to me. I might have become a bit tired of seeing it everywhere. :-D These days I tend to like a more painterly style:
Example from Scott Burdick:

I tend to like something that's a little bit more abstract or maybe not so over-the-top.
Or super abstract from Agnes Cecile:
Or Giger:
OMG!
I think I could do that in my sleep... lol
"Commercial" is maybe too crude of a description. I think what I don't like so much is that his style is so vibrant and colorful everywhere. So from a composition standpoint, there's not much particularly to draw the eye. It's kind of like eye candy overload, perhaps. I tend to like something that has more of a stronger focal point -- more contrast, more subdued except in areas that really pop, etc. Although there's probably some tired bias on my part from seeing his work all over the place, yet I like something that is subdued in more areas instead of splashes of light reflecting everywhere. If I relate it to photography, I don't like photos that make heavy use of HDR filters, and Kinkade's style reminds me of that a bit.
Example of HDR photography (these are photos, not a painting)

These are achieved by exaggerating the exposure of the photo and passing them through a filter. Kinkade's style reminds me of that a bit. It's a bit over-the-top for my eyes, like I prefer something with a bit more contrast between foreground and background so that the artist can exaggerate the colors or contrast in certain areas to say, "Look here, this is what I want you to see" instead of like, "Look, colors and light eye candy everywhere!"
>> I think I could do that in my sleep... lol
Oh sorry, I might have misunderstood what that meant!
Did you mean the Agnes Cecile one that's super abstract? She's actually quite a gifted artist and the composition of that one painting is still quite superb in my opinion -- much more than a splatter of paint although it might look it. Another example of her work:
I love what he can do with a paint brush and make it look like sunlight. You can almost feel the warmth. I'm not an art aficionado but I like the drawings of m. c. escher, the art of Beverly Doolittle, and aviation art by anyone, but especially Keith ferris , (he painted the b17 mural at smithsonian.
Yeah i read or here about how it's not good art or not worth it and i do love it a lot. You can sit there and ponder the time away about how these places could be real. My favorite are the Christmas ones. To see a valley covered in snow in the night and a church or house or even a town in the distance with Christmas lights or lights on. It is so peaceful like you are there walking in the snow seeing the beauty around you. 💓💓💓😊
it's not my favorite, but I do like the energy and warmth present. not sure my favorite, it's just the image and how it feels.
I really like the Thomas kinkaid style but my favorite is the south Dakota born Terry? Aaah! I forget his last name but his seasonal paintings are some of the best I've ever seen and owned.
Yes, more out in the country style... very nice :)
I love his works.
I'm a simple girl. I'm into ART... just every kind of art. But I have a soft corner doodles and abstracts.
Visually pleasing, but personally not very stimulating.
I think they're pleasing up to a certain extent for me.
Whoever the guy is that painted the man putting his hands on his squigly face that guys art style 😂😂
Yes very beautiful paintings. I also like Bob Ross paintings.
Absolutely! The way he painted light is incredible!
My favorite kind of art are creative city-scapes different to what we have currently
I like his style a lot, but it's not my favorite. I do love the next to last painting you posted
No idea who my favorite is, but those pics are lovely.
Yes I love the style and have 1 of his paintings hanging on a wall in my house.
Yes. My sister has a lot of his artwork and Norman Rockwell's also.
They are like the Walt Whitman painting. very humble and realistic
I love his paintings. In fact, I bought several paintings years ago in Annapolis, MD years ago.
They make nice Christmas cards, but I wouldn't buy one or hand it on my wall or want to see it everyday. There's no intrigue to them.
He's a very good painter
Excellent color combination.
There's something sinister about them.
Wow!
This is the first time I have ever heard such a thing!
Why is that?
Well, I don't think so in this case.
Mr Thomas lived in the "Carmel By The Sea", California area, where we also have property overlooking the ocean.
Most of his paintings are inspired from properties that he saw all around there, so I think all is well :)
Ok :)
I'm more of a Van Gogh person 🙂
He's very good, I like his artwork a lot!
Not particularly I'd rather have body paint
Reminds me of Van Gogh
