How about you? What got you into anime and loving it ever since?
Anime lovers, what got you into anime in the first place?
How about you? What got you into anime and loving it ever since?
Well,
We used to have a Manga club at school and my sister and her friends attended it, so I would visit from time to time, see what they were doing and eventually I took an interest in it then started asking my sisters friends and my sister what anime they would recommend, but before that I was watching anime with my sister because she was showing me what she likes.
Which was
Inuyasha
Hetalia
Black Butler
She was never as huge of a fan as I became, but my origin of my love for anime and manga stems from the manga club. :)
I know right? :)
It was a thing that I was eased into, I am super happy I found that club because yes, I very well could have missed out!
That isn't to say I wouldn't have found anime and manga through different means, it's all over the internet and lots of people talk about it, but that doesn't certify I would have come across it.
It also may have changed my life choices, so anime and manga may have had a big impact if it weren't in my life. :)
Not actually Anime, rather Hentai.
I stumbled about it by accident when I was looking for specific themed flesh and blood still images. It is hard to explain why this is attractive, sometimes more than F&B.
As crazy as it may sound, my strict dad got me into anime unknowingly.
My dad remembered Sonic the Hedgehog when the series first came out, and he knew that I loved animals, so he let me watch Sonic X. I fell in love with the series and the animation style, and I've loved anime ever since.
As a child sailor moon and Pokemon
But in college this :
Thank you for the mho ๐๐.

Mine is Studio Ghibli, but the way I got into that particular genre is Kiki's Delivery Service, after that it took off from there
Oh gosh I don't even remember! My first anime was dragonball z- I saw it on tv, but my dense butt thought it was just a cartoon.
It wasn't until I got into college and one of my friends gave me an anime to watch did I really get engrossed into it!
At first Pokemon, Digimon and Yugioh were just seen as cartoons in my eyes. the term anime never existed. But it was was the creators were illostrated and how the story connected is what i liked. Anime was more human like than cartoons which made it more relatable. and story made a big difference. how if you miss one episode it would be slightly harder to understand what was happening in the next. But those 3 opened up a whole new world to anime for me
Pretty much this^
Well it wasn't very hard i was a kid who liked cartoons so i also liked anime. So what got me into it? whatever got me into cartoons. But i would say death note and Parasyte were the first adult anime's i watched but i did watch death note at 6ish so. When it came out.
I loved "A Whisker Away". I just stopped by to say that.
Also my first exposure to anime happened in grade school. My older sis showed me "Spirited Away". I have been in love with Studio Ghibli - the group that created this film - ever since.
The first anime i have ever watched was Naruto when i was a kid, when i grew up and found it again it was a special moment for me because my childhood's main moments was when i was watching Naruto, then i watched tons of anime as Hunter X Hunter, Bleach, and a lot of things, and anime became something important in my life
I liked the drawing style, it is what got me into drawing. I remember as a kid watching wrestling and I found it cool, and then I see an animated version of combat, DBZZZZZZ and I was like sold. Drew quite a bit from there, from watching tv.
Haven't watched Whisker one yet
It's good, but if I live vicariously, it will also include some furry/cosplay.
I wouldn't say I'm an anime lover as I cannot stand the older show. With the chunky animation and the slow frame-rate. However I gained an appreciation for it after seeing shows like Angel Beats!, Sword Art Online, and Railgun. I still have a few gripes with it as a medium but I'm warming up to it.
The intensity of NGE and Akira which was the first series's and movie I ever watched. Later , I enjoyed the crazy but good stories of Howl's moving castle and spirited away and comedies like Ranks 1/2 and Gintama.
PS - anytime I comment on Anime I get asked about my username been in reference to him. So just in case you where going to ask or reference, I've used Naraku since before I knew who that was in Inuyasha. โบ๏ธ
"Akira" in 1992. I was 9 when watch it and there was many others anime. "Tank Police" was the second one and I haven't watched ever since. "Berserk" a few years later. My relatives have video cassette rent store ( 😂 omg that time was epic especially the fi e for not rewinding the tape) so I have access to thousands of anime but the first and the best was "Akira"
When I was 13 I was watching the scifi channel, on Saturdays at midnight they played 2 Anime films so after what I wanted to watch was on I kept watching. The first devilman ova and ghost in the shell was playing that week and I was hooked from then. I got in trouble for staying up too late but after that I stayed up every weekend to see what I was going to be shown next.
Thinking back if my parents knew what I was watching they would be horrified!
I come from the old school so I fell in love with anime like mobile suit gundam and macros. Always loved how inventive old school anime was with robots and battle suits. Nowadays sadly its all isekai and moe. Not that thier isn't still some good shows, the a certain series and shield hero come to mind
I started watching them since childhood, but i thought of them just like any other cartoon.
I started watching "anime" as anime after one of my friend reintroduced me to it, he told me about naruto and asked me to watch it.
When I was a child I watched anime but I didn't knew it was anime I thought it was just a regular cartoon (dessin animé in my country).
Nothing special drew me to it just that I liked the story, the character and the music.
I originally was an anime hater but, a friend in grade 9 convinced me to watch it. First anime I watched was Naruto, then I moved onto sword arts, and then I just went ape mode on every single anime that I could get my hands on
I was a 90s and early 2000s baby so sailor moon was always the main anime. That and inuyasha. Pokemon was always a favorite as well on early mornings lol
My best friend made me watch Kaze No Stigma and I really liked it then began Inuyasha when I was like 20 years old lol
I've always been a fan of animation so when I found a genre in animation without the kid-friendly boundaries, I was sold.
I don't know if I'm an anime lover but I enjoyed watching them with my big brother when I was little.
