Popular culture has spent the last 50 years teaching people that looks/appearances are more important than substance. Social media turned that up to 11, and now a lot of people have no friends, no hobbies, and no real-world lives - their whole existence is based on feeding their craving for attention.
The number of people without real-world skills in doing things (actually playing sports vs. just watching, cooking, fixing things around the house, changing their own flat tires, etc.) is going up, but in my opinion that's not going to be sustainable. There's a HUGE shortage in children - the birthrate has been plummeting, and the average age of people who do physical-type jobs is very high, so when they finally retire, there's going to be a huge shortage of non-office workers - truck drivers, construction tradesmen, mechanics, etc. Most folks with office jobs aren't going to be able to afford luxuries - shipping goods will be very expensive with a huge shortage of truck drivers - and housing is going to be insane, which means you might be single, but you probably won't be able to afford to live alone. A shortage of construction workers will mean less new housing (which also means more expensive new housing) and less of an ability to do remodels and upgrades for existing buildings, etc.
The point of all this is that most of the "online influencer" jobs are going to collapse - the most popular YouTubers and Twitch personalities will adapt, but lots of people who are able to make a living doing that kind of thing will see the money dry up as the novelty wears off. The same is true for OnlyFans - lots of women quit their jobs to do OF, but while a few at the top make a lot of money and always will, most of the middle income people will see that income collapse as the economy constricts and as more people are forced back to work. People who have been focusing on "attention seeking" to sustain themselves are going to lose a lot of that attention, whether it's financial or just ego-boosting, and many are going to have a hard time of it.
Insecurities abound. Everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame, over and over again.
Here's some guesses:
I think some have mental issues and others just want to be famous. There are also people who never got attention from their parents, so they seek it with other people.

Nowadays people are becoming more busier day by day. So understanding the condition of the attention seekers it must be that they felt lonely and separated from their loved ones so they do stupid things for their attention. Other reason could be that they like people to know that they are there. By that it means they like to make their presence known to others. Other is that they may like to be the centre of the attention. By that I mean they like it when people think about them. Other reason could be that they are like trying to stand out from crowd and get that superior feeling by getting other's attention. Other could be that haven't got any work or want to disturb and annoy others.
All one needs to do is look at the Kardashians, the "Cash me ousside" girl, or that girl that was on Dr. Phil that was black, yet claimed to be white and hated black people.
We are becoming a society that is less and less connected. And people revere those who have the biggest social following then those that are actually famous for actually accomplishing anything. You could cure cancer and your social relevance would pale in comparison to someone with a million followers. It's a sad fact and it's only getting worse.
Money.
Influencers can make millions. And since everyone knows how effective online ad campaigns are on young people, a lot of folks are doing whatever they can to build followings.

Because people become more and more desperate to get to know how other people feel about them. That starts with all the social media networks and leads people to dependent their self-worth on the acknowledgement of others.
Young people are being raised in daycare and being babysat by social media and they aren't developing self-confidence.
A definite example for online are 'people who always care of getting badges in random digital platforms on the Internet.
The horror fact: This is Business!
& I guess admin of @GirlsAskGuys never try to mess with me again coz they already know.. I respawn.
I guess A is the answer. I'm not certain to how long ago you compare, for me the problem has been stable over the last 2 to 3 years 😩
Today’s society where people are more interested in online interaction and attention than they are with real world human connection.
Personally, I would only become an influencer for money so I can take care of my family. I never grew up with attention and the older I get the less I care what anyone thinks of me.
We’re social beings. We need to be reminded every now and then that whatever we have to offer is valued by others.
More single parent households leading to more kids with self-esteem issues seeking validation
Get rid of the internet and they will all go back in hiding and back to being unknowns
I Wonder the same. Sensetive people too, you know! Those whom feels offended without them knowing why (because they are stupid) and start acting up in public.
It really depends on situations some might want more attention cause they are not getting enough attention from family
Covid has put people less likely to just hang out as they used to so they must seek that attention they are no longer getting like they used to.
We all love attention Paris 13 even you. Nothing wrong with that 😊
There’s less and less positive attention going around. :/
On line you not face to face if say something wrong
just click off
Because they have more ways to get attention, it's that simple.
Because the numerous Social Media apps are available
Too many insecure people feeling the need for validation
I have a great internal filter Paris.. I never notice 'em!
i only come on here and i'm only attention seeking sometimes

No what we have now is the worst of both capitalism and socialism. Corporate socialism and rampant consumerism.
@DarkWinterNights yeah... the modern take on capitalism, whatever sells, will be sold and at any cost
