Not trying to sound like a tough guy or anything, but scary movies don’t scare me. I just can’t suspend disbelief for them. The idea of a ghost or some psychopath being after me feels so outside of the realm of legitimate possibilities that I just can’t take it seriously. And it sucks, because I want to be scared, I feel left out😂 I can be briefly startled, like when something suddenly jumps out, but I’m just always 100% aware that I’m watching something fake on a television screen, there’s no real threat. I actually just watched the newest Scream movie with my lady yesterday. The only thing that scared me was that I watched the original when I was a freshman in college, and now 25 years have passed. THAT’S scary😂😂😂 I was not prepared to see Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette in their 50s. They did some sort of thing with the Billy Loomis character for a few hallucinations where he looked the same as in 1997. I don’t know if it was CGI or old footage, some kind of deepfake…. but I’ve seen middle-aged Skeet Ulrich recently on Riverdale, and that shit is jarring too, lmao.
I do all the time and even did so as a little kid watching films in the dark alone in the house when my parents were away. I'm not some sort of badass though.
I think my main problem is that I can't immerse myself in these films quite as much as most people. I noticed the biggest difference after I got together with my wife. She actually gets moved by films, like tragedies for example, as though what she's watching is really happening on the screen. So she could be made so upset by a tragedy whereas I tend to not get so upset and sometimes even see a positive spin like, "Hey, at least my life isn't so bad!"
So I don't get moved so much by films in general whether they be horror or tragedies or happy stories or anything else. The only time I tend to get moved is if the fictional concept of the film -- with the full awareness that it's still only fiction -- moves me somehow. For example, no film has ever managed to frighten me but some have left me with disturbing ideas and thoughts that I would mull over long after the film ended.
If we're talking about jump scares though, those do make me feel a bit surprised. I consider that a bit different though from being frightened like my friends could jump out of a corner and scream real loud in front of my face and I would be like, "What? Stop that!" So I have that reflex still.
... but I think jump scare isn't really a scare and should be called more like "jump surprise". For example, probably no one here would find My Little Pony scary. But suppose there was some scene where, out of the blue, one of those cute pony characters jumped in front of the scream and made the loudest noise. That'd probably surprise most people. I think it's a very cheap way to get a reaction out of people although I'm still rather used to it now having watched so many horror films.
Lol. I get scared even if I don't turn off the lights and I have someone friends/family sitting next to me. There's no way I'm going to watch a horror movie all alone. 😐😶😶
There is absolutely no way on this planet that I can do this.
At least your being honest.
@Hispanic-Cool-Guy
With hand on heart, absolutely totally honest.

Yeah but not Mr. Ballen videos.
His videos scare me cause they are all true stories.
oh no i searched about mr ballen and now i regret it 😔😔
Normally, they don't even phase me. Unless they're a memetic hazard. If I can get a few highlights and then walk away, fine. If it plants ideas and notes in my head that I need three months to get out of my head later... that's what scares me.
Willy's Wonderland was more of a dark comedy than a true horror film. But that theme song... it never completely goes away!
Yes... been watching them since I was four years old so I am quite used to them
also, when I was growing up my great grandma and my mother would keep telling me that none of that was real
my older brother never scared me with that either... but I did it a bit with my younger brother, so he was the one a bit scared of the dark... lol
So have I and love them, but can’t do it as suggested without reaction. lol
Those caught in real life footage films be scary sometimes. I know it's faked but still. It gives me the creeps sometimes.. hence I'm not sure if I can be a nightguardsman or anything to do with guarding anything. I feel I'd just run away if i think it was haunted lol
I am into aliens, ghosts, vampires, witches, warlocks, demons, satan, gods, goddesses, demigods, demigoddesses, angels, hell, underworld, heaven, mythology, white magic & black magic, medieval, catacombs, caves, haunted places (houses, forests, asylums, prisons etc.) level 2 darkness & level 1 darkness, snakes, spiders, oddities etc.
With that said my answer is yes.
No I can´t. I can not listen to crime podcasts or stories in the evening either because I have an imaginative memory so I will take that into the night for sure.
No, it does not bother me. Being home alone at night bothers me sometimes. The house always makes noises that it usually does not and animals howl a lot too.
I play scary games while alone. But the whole point is the challenge of outsmarting the scary thing. it's supposee to be scary, if it's not, then it's dissapointment to the genre.
I turn off all the lights so it's just me and the scary movie... yep, I'm somewhat nervous. That's what the movie is supposed to do, right?
Have you ever been in a firefight? Combat will be scary enough. Watching a controlled environment that is used for entertainment just doesn't compare.
I don't do it!
I'll just leave the comment like that!
As long as its not regarding the paranormal or Michael Myers, yes I can.
@TheSpaceGnome you know which i meant 💀
Possibly xD
yeh i do all the time i live alone and love horror movies
I dislike horror movies unless they’re about vampires or zombies otherwise they’re horrible specially the ones with ghosts and spirits.
It depends on the movie. The movie would have to make me feel that the events that happen there could happen irl and at any moment.
You can do this bro! literally just turn off the lights and look in the mirror! Now that's a scary sight
Yeah Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, IT, Halloween, Saw, Final Description, Jeepers Creepers 🤷♂️
Nope mostly because I hate horror movies and I get scared really easily
Yeah, not a fan of the genre. I don't get the appeal or how something that is fake is scary.
Oh yeah. The movies that get me nervous happen in the water. One mistake by the actor and they drown. Gives me shivers right now.
There aren't many movies that scare me, most horror films are just lame.
Yes I do, all the time
Absolutely - love horror films.
Maybe a little nervous but rarely scared
In all honesty I can't do it.
I can't do it. Even with company.
Watched one 3 nights ago. So yes.
Yes. I love horror movies.
Yes, I watched the movie dabbe at night.
Nope. lol
I wouldn’t do it.
Yeah can you?
I get scared bro
