They don't, really. Not unless it's a top hat, in which case it's POSSIBLE to have a false top on the inside that they can flip open at the right time to pull the rabbit out. Otherwise, they'll usually have a black pouch under their jacket, or something, that the rabbit lays in and then they make it LOOK like it's coming out of the hat. If the hat is on a table, the pouch will be under the table where the hat sits and they have a false top on the outside of the hat AND in that one spot on the table and they can just reach in through those holes and out comes Bugs!

The rabbit is a demon. He has a portal from hell that he opens inside the hat. The magician sticks his hand in that portal and pulls out that fuzzy devil. 😂
