Does anyone know any good strategy games?

Well, it is getting close to Fall/Winter. Things are kind of winding down on my accounts. I will probably go out to Las Vegas again and then back overseas for a week or two. But the rest of my schedule will be open, probably until Spring 2023.

We don't seem to have many game playing nerds here, but I thought I would ask. Does anyone know any good strategy games?

I have purchased so many games and never even downloaded or played them.

I bought;

Stellaris and all the DLCs

Cities Skylines and all the DLCs

Red Read Redemption

CyberPunk 2077

GTA 5

Crusader Kings 3

And a bunch of other crap. I have played one game, Cities Skylines for a bit.

The rest I haven't even looked at them. I am going to probably just transfer all of this stuff to my nephews. But they need the hardware to run this stuff. I am trying to put together a couple of systems for them for the holidays. But anyway. . . any suggestions? Because I can only watch so much Netflix.

I really enjoyed stellaris, its a bit hard to get into some mechanics but you can allways just roleplay your race and see what this lead to. Also great in multiplayer.
My fiance also enjoys the Warhammer total war series and it is fun to watch so maybe take a look at these games too. Also atm on epic games gloomhaven is free. Its a strategic rpg, as its free to play not much to do wrong there.

I want to get into Warhammer. But I just can't see playing a strategy game in the fantasy genre. I would rather role play for fantasy.

And now I am thinking about it, I think my old ass is going to try that out over the winter. That might just be the ticket. I am looking at a lot of downtime.

Warcraft II, Age of Empires I and II, Empire Earth, Starcraft, Medieval II: Total War, and Civilization.

I did all the Total Wars long ago. WHY DON'T THEY MAKE A NEW EMPIRE GAME?

I was stuck playing mods trying to relive my glory days. And it is not appealing anymore. But I was waiting in line for Medieval II the day it came out.

But out of your list, I might look up Civilization. I played it almost two decades ago and didn't like it. Maybe Civ 6 might be okay. Otherwise it will be another forty bucks down the drain.

I don't know why they never made another one. I am a sucker for a strategy game; even the bad ones. But if you're going to spend $40 I recommend getting the board games. I got my family hooked on Settlers of Catan; and they hate strategy based games.

DUDE! Total war … Warhammer 3, best game of its kind, total war works so well with Warhammer fantasy

Things that make this game F-in’ fantastic:

psychology: routing armies, terror, immune to psychology.

Rock/paper/scissors dynamic: devastating charge bonus, flank bonus, spear beat horse, horse beat sword, sword beat spear.

Monsters, dragons, and super powerful magic👌

asymmetry: from Kislev to Khmeri, Empire and greenskins, 3 flavors of elves and 5 flavors of chaos

Dope single player, tireless multiplayer with your buddies in 1v1 to 4v4, and ranked latter if you’re a try hard

great community, devs listen to players, good physics (line of site, arced fire, mass, etc.)

CONS: expensive, steep learning curve, should have a SSD and decent graphics card, runs perfect on 1070 and 4970k

It's real old but I enjoyed Homeworld. The sequel and the prequel are kind of lame, though..

Yeah, I played Homeworld a long, long time ago. I bought the new version to play the Star Trek and Star Wars mods.

I might check out Diablo 2. I don't know why, but I just can't get into Starcraft and Warcraft.
A long time ago, I bought Starcraft, like the Platinum version or some crap.

And I put it in the box in the kitchen. It never left that box.

You know what I did like? Sins of a Solar Empire. Even by today's standards, this is pretty good. But I have played this game to death.

Wow, I was hooked with StarCraft the minute I started it. Played it and the Brood Wars extension three times completely so far.
To be precise, the Diablo series is hack&slay with RPG elements, not strategy. But I wanted to add it, as it was addictive like all other Blizzard games I played so far.

I played the first two Diablos. Might look at the third. But I do love fantasy, there just aren't many good games out there. I went through Baldur's gate and all the expansions. I guess I could look at Baldurs Gate 2 or maybe that other series. . . Pillars of Eternity.

If you have the means, I recommend checking out Advance Wars or Fire Emblem.

The first two games are getting full remakes but we have no idea when that’s coming out. The original GBA versions are still more than suitable for the job.
