I think it has. Korean pop music has been taking the world by storm for quite a while. So has Korean shows, particularly Squid Game. Japan's got anime and J-pop, but I haven't seen any surge in the popularity of anime; it's just been a thing for decades. And I'm confident in saying that J-Pop isn't as popular as K-pop.

I never liked K-pop. Thats really not my taste. And if we talk about the Squid Game, it was a disaster in my opinion despite gaining a lot of popularity among viewers.
