+1 yMy favorite rapper from the 90s was 2Pac. Out of every rapper alive during the time, I believed that 2Pac was the best, mainly because of his ability to rap about several different subjects. Many of the subjects that he rapped about are still relevant until this day despite 2Pac being dead for 26 years. 2Pac definitely had the voice for rap and the delivery of his bars were perfect. While 2Pac might didn't have the most complex punchlines, fastest speed, or super intricate rhyme schemes, 2Pac never needed to rap in such a way because his purpose on tracks was always to relay an important message in the most clear and concrete way possible so that everybody listening and those that needed the message could understand it clearly. It's the same reason many people still play 2Pac's music today and consider him the best to ever do it during his time at least.

50 Cent first album did not come out until 2003.
None really. There were loads of really great rap songs, but they were all by one-hit-wonders (I don't care if their other songs sold well - they were still shit).
For example:
Coolio -> Gangster's Paradise, and nothing else.
2pac -> Changes, and nothing else.
Mark Morrison -> Return of the Mack, and nothing else.
Jurassic Five -> Concrete Schoolyard, and nothing else.
Public Enemy -> Harder Than You Think, and nothing else.
And so on...The only rap/hip-hop where I'd actually listen to a whole album, is Aussie stuff from 2000s onwards (Hilltop Hoods, Pez, 360, Bliss n Eso, etc).

This question is for me :)
Has to be Big L. Less mainstream, more underground. Not a lot of people know him unfortunately, but he was the king when it comes to delivery and punchlines.
Just watch this for reference:

@Fuentes Yeah, I don't mess with todays hip hop. Most of it is autotune and repetitive lines like "aye" and "skrrr" which are just super cringe. Back in the days we had Rakim, Ice Cube, Pac and Big, Dr Dre, Eazy E and many more that were far superior in lyrics and delivery, and they actually used to write their own lines as well. This new generation has no taste in music.

But either way, one of those two.12 Reply- +1 y
Sick... no one has mentioned eazy-e before and I was actually waiting for it for somebody to mention... Eazy-E would be the REAL and BEST protection/option for 2pac. He is protected and affiliated with soo many crip sets in different neighborhoods.
He would be alive. Death Row Records led him to his demise. He was affiliating. Chose the wrong side. - +1 y
I agree with you because he had so much respect and love in Compton. I don't personally believe that the drama between him and Dre, snoop, etc.. would've continued I think eventually they would've squashed everything.
Great question. There were so many... Pac, Biggie, LL Cool J, Busta, Dre, KRS One, Nate, Snoop, Warren G, Smoothe Da Hustla, Nas...
I'd go with Biggie. The Big man was just amazing.11 Reply- +1 y
