Is it true *ONLY* impersonated people know what they sound like?

So are the people who have others impersonate them, and impersonate them well, the (only) ones who will actually know, or have an accurate/ near-accurate idea of WHAT they actually sound like?

If it’s true, what do you think about that?

false I think. I believe what your voice sounds like on video is accurate to what your voice actually sounds like.
I say this because most people HATE the sound of their voice on video. I think my voice sounds higher pitch and more nasally every time I hear a recording of myself. But every time I hear someone else on video, they sound the same in person to me lol.

So if everyone else sounds normal on video then it’s safe to assume that my voice on video is also accurate.

I also learned recently if you place your hands against your head in front of your ears (with your palms facing your ears, if you get what I mean) it’s supposed to sound like a more accurate version of your voice.

Yeah, I totally get what you’re saying. I’ll try that hand method, and I’ll have to really pay attention next time I catch a recording of someone. I always felt they sounded different than in the audios (for me). Could have been the recording equipment.

I know certain mic. s are more sensitive to noise, and I’m sure more modern technologies and especially mobile phones, are getting better at picking up sound and mimicking it well.

No because it’s supposed to be satire right? I mean it’s supposed to be an exaggeration.

But sometimes when someone does a good impersonation it makes you think “is that what I really sound like?” And usually it’s a no because of what I mentioned earlier.

Makes sense. 💯 I was thinking this too! Like caricatures, but I feel like not all exaggerate, but some truly wish to capture the essence of those they impersonate/ mimic.

Despite that being said, I agree even when listening to sleep of them, they weren’t accurate to those they were trying to impersonate, but so close that I figure they could know what they sound like from an impressionist, than from hearing themselves in a recorded audio.

I think I have to agree with you on this. Partially though.

I can record my voice and be like *cringe* thats what i sound like… but yea im pretty sure its what i sound like. I dont like being mocked so i wouldn't want someone trying to impersonate me

Talented but still a bit of mockery thought its often consented. I personally never wanted a funny drawing of myself but i’d love for someone to sketch me on a more serious note. I used to be good at sketching people when i was 10

But I think when my friends or family exaggerate impersonating me, it makes me laugh. 😂 and I don’t know why. I feel like there’s something to it, psychologically speaking, but I’ll have to consider it first.

Maybe it depends on the persons sense of humor rather than consent. But i know a lot of comedians impersonate people all the time and im sure they didn't ask for permission. I remember michael jackson and a lot of tv station were super disappointed in Eminem for impersonating him in Just Lose It. But of course the fans were eating it up because we all believed the rumors to be true
