I think he will be fine. Cancellation doesn't seem to carry the weight it used to, unless perhaps it is related to serious sexual impropriety.

My understanding is that he has a history of obnoxious behavior behind the scenes.

Hahaha, I wonder how deep that actually goes. I mean, objectively, being fat can't be a whole lot of fun, although Corden seems to have good genes, so he can kind of pull it off.

Not terrible, just not as good as Leno or Letterman were. Late night shows have an expectation for ratings. If you don't compare to historic ratings you have to count your days.
