I like the going out part, but there are so few movies that have great writing, scripts and great acting.
Now it seems to be about the special effects.
I watch a lot of classic movies for just that reason.

One of the theaters in town do classics at Christmas so we go see them.

I love the movie theater. I have AMC alist so it's not expensive to go, and even though I have a really nice setup at home it can't compare to the big screen laser aligned projectors and 100+ speaker atmos.

It hasn't lost its ummph but my 85" tv and surround sound is hard to beat for one and, two, the "ummph" is now so crazy expensive that it's just not worth it.

Yeah. We are saturated with media in 2023. Once upon a time it used to take upward of two years for a movie to come out on video or even DVD, maybe 3-4 years before it appeared on TV. Now a movie appears on a streaming service a month or two after it is in the cinema. Then when you add the cost of going to the movies plus drinks and snacks, then you add that movies are so badly written, if its an action movie the camera work is so shake that you've no clue what is happening. Interstellar was a great movie but in the movie theatre I couldn't hear what Mathew McConachey was saying yet when ever the movie soundtrack played I was deafened as though Hans Zimmer had fallen asleep on his organ, same story watching it at home, had to watch it with subtitles.

Movie theatres used to be the priemer place for dating but it's much cheaper and easier to netflix and chill and you are less likely to be arrested for getting a blowjob.

I'd rather watch a good movie in theaters, especially if it's an action/suspense movie that I'm most likely not going to watch multiple times.

The problem is that legitimately good movies worth the theater visit are few and far between. Mission Impossible, The Sound of Freedom, The Covenant, and John Wick 4 are it for this year.

For me the answer would be YES, once going to see a film was a whole night out by itself with the main film and and a couple of shorts for a reasonable ticket price, now its just the main feature (if it worth watching) and the ticket prices have gone through the roof.

Yes, the movies are not great and it is really expensive to go. I could go to Redbox and reant a DVD for a couple of bucks or watch something on a streaming channels for free.

Nothing beats a good movie theater experience.

Problem is what's around it. High ticket price, high food price, and morons who can't shut the fuck up in the theater.
