I always told the kid to stick with playing the drums.

Bonanza was a big thing when I was growing up.
I didn't know that Lorne Greene had a hit record, though.
I guess it was because he was the star of one of the most popular westerns series' of all time. It ran for 14 years - 1959 through 1973 - and was syndicated, so reruns were on TV forever.
Plus he had a great baritone voice. But he wasn't a singer.
It reminds me of how William Shatner and Leonard Nemoy made records to capitalize on their popularity in Star Trek.
When I was eleven and got my first guitar, before I even knew how to tune it, the first thing I taught myself to play was the intro part of the theme to Bonanza. LOL
Wonder if it would be worth $$ today?
Ringo was certainly a great hit for him. He also sang other songs, most that were made famous by others, such as Sixteen Tons and Ghost Riders in the Sky.
By hit do you mean a Top 40 hit? Did it get any playtime outside of Country/Western stations? I had never heard it before.

I feel honored! 😃
Everyone was putting out records back in the day. Even the kid from the Rifleman had a couple of hits

That song must have been named that when he said his record was going to go Gold. Nose as long as a telephone wire!
Thank you for the MHO. 🥰👍👍

Yes! It was on RCA and it was called, "Ringo"! It was even used on a Dickie Goodman record, "Schmonanza"
Ted Cassidy also did one.
Shelley Fabaray had quite a few, Johnny Crawford, the boy that was on, "Father Knows Best", Edd "Kookie" Byrnes, Connie Stevens, Irene Ryan did "Grannies Mini Skirt", Don "Yodar Critch" Grady from My 3 Sons, Billy Mumy did quite a few with a partner under the name, Barnes & Barnes. Walter Brennan had a few. At least one of his was also on a Dickie Goodman record, "Ben Crazy". Darla Hood had a minor hit. Leonard Nimoy and William Shattner both had albums out, as did Patty Duke, Theo Bikel and Alfred E. Newman!
The Banana Splits, The Monkees, The Partridge Family, The Cowsills.
Frank Gorshin, I think Eddie Albert might've had a couple, I get the feeling Hal Lindley did one, too. Desi Arnez, Dino, Desi & Billy, Lloyd Thaxton had a lot of singles out.
Back in the `60's, if you had a hit record, you got your own variety show! If you were on a t. v. show, you were asked to make a record!
Which one did you hear, "Wesley" or "The Lurch".
Neither did Lorne Greene. Walter Brennan didn't sing, either. have you heard Bill Shattner's version of "Lucy In The Sky with Diamonds"? He doesn't sing it, he ACTS it!!
Rappers can't sing but they're still called, singers.
All those old TV guys did and they became hits because of their television fame, not because it was good music. I think Hasselhoff was the last of these.
My older sister actually had that record. I listened to it a couple times.
In the movie "Waco" made in 1966 starring Howard Keel, Lorne Greene sings the opening song about Waco as the movie is starting. I did not know that he made a record.
What’s your personal opinion about that song?
No I didn't know he sang
Was it Ringo? Can't see the video on my phone.
No, it wouldn't load. But I can see I was right.
No I don't know who this guy is
Thanks for telling me the show and what days it comes on.
@Daniela1982 Thanks for linking one of his videos.
Lorne Green was also Adama on Battlestar Galactica. That's about all I remember him from.
You are right because I never heard of it. but then again, there are a lotta things I've never heard.
Yes, if that was a "hit".
Never heard of this guy lol
You were probably watching Felix the Cat.
It was all about having a Bag of Tricks instead of super powers.
Nope; I did not.
