What is the most difficult video game you have ever played?

In terms of reflexes required? Ghosts and Goblins. My brother, always wanting the better hardware for himself, told me I had to "prove myself" by playing through the old-even-at-the-time NES games before he'd let me do anything more modern. After I astonished him by beating Battletoads, he bragged about my abilities to his friends, one of whom said he knew of a game that NOBODY had ever beaten, and brought over a copy of Ghosts, in the traditional blue plastic box (why it was blue, no one seems to know) inside a wooden box that looked like a pirate's treasure chest. That's the kind of thing you remember. Ghosts was a game made by people who thought that "margins of error" were for WIMPS. You needed pixel-perfect timing to defeat some of the bosses, and after you beat the game, you had to go and do it all AGAIN.

In more thinky, planny terms? The harder, but off the top of my head, I'd say Xpiratez. It's a total conversion for X-Com that requires forethought and adaptation that blows past even the original- and believe me, that's saying something. Also, when I get particularly far in a run, the hard drive I'm using tends to die. I can't PROVE it's related, but...
