My personal favorite is U2. Achtung baby especially is timeless in my opinion.

Some their early music in the 80s has a zeitgeist to it (e. g. Sunday Bloody Sunday). But their later stuff was produced brilliantly and they got away from politics while they were still in their prime.

It just has a lively feeling that transcends generations. My dad loved it, I loved it and even some people your age love it.

I could put on my headphones and get on a cardio machine at local gym listening to U2s “even better than the real thing” and the euphemistic feeling I get is the same today as it was 20 years ago. So that’s the “timeless” feeling I get from it.

I like all those bands. But you can really feel the “zeitgeist” with them especially Jimi Hendrix (he sings about the Vietnam).

The 90s U2 just fits well into any zeitgeist because they stopped singing about politics (although U2 did sing about politics in their 80s albums).
