Is it bad to write songs about dark topics?

Love and heartbreak are good, but what about dark topics such as addiction and scdl ideation. They are relatable, but is it okay for something like that to be shown to the public?

Research says the latter. Media doesn’t affect behavior so much. It’s generally there from other reasons.

You should write songs that resonate with how you are feeling. If it is about something sad that is okay.

I can name at least two songs about addiction that already exist - master of puppets (metallica), sober (tool), and others that might be about addiction like Bad Habit (dresden dolls)
