Do you think Country Music gets a undeserved bad reputation?

Sorry there's a lot of songs about cheating and infidelity, but every genre has that. To me Country Music tells a story better than most genres. I love all kinds but Country will always be one of my favorites next to classic rock

Country music has a bad reputation for a lot of reasons, not just the ones you mentioned. For one, it’s notoriously a white genre, meaning all of its most popular artists are white singers and white bands, which wouldn’t be an issue if there wasn’t such a backlash for black country singers. Remember how the CMAs had Beyoncé come on to sing her country song? Remember how pissed people were? They said it was because she was a pop singer but they cheer for Taylor Swift who only did one country album and nothing but pop music ever since.


Not to mention there’s an entire subgenre of country music that just sucks ass as they sing about fucking their truck while downing a sixpack of cheap beer. There’s also the fact that country music has gone significantly downhill since 9/11, changing from an outlaw’s theme song to boot-licking white ‘murican “patriotism.” Johnny Cash, one of THE country singers of the 20th century, would be considered a liberal cuck if he was alive today with his same music. If no one had heard his song “A Boy Named Sue” before, they would have assumed it was some kind of transgender anthem.


Country music sucks for a lot of reasons, the songs about cheating and murdering husbands are really the only good songs. It sucks because of everything else.

Johnny Cash was actually very progressive and liberal for his time though. He was totally pro Civil Rights

Most "new age country" is CRAP. A bunch of wannabe rappers in cowboy hats. Now, older country? Lots of great hits. But, to each their own. Listen to whatever makes you happy!

The older acts like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash were the best. Even younger stars like Townes VanZandt reflected the real soul of country music.

Jason Aldean and Kenny chesney are more pop than country.

I like all kinds of music, Country AND Western.

Country was good, when Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, Tanya Tucker, Dolly Pardon, etc. the list goes on but the new Country music I just can't grasp it, but I do like some new songs that came out it's the older generation of Country music rock.

Sorta, kinda, but not really.. I think it gets a bad reputation in the same way Rap/Hip Hop does (Not for the same reasons of course).. It's popular, but has a lot of loud dislikers..

I would say yes country usually gets a bad rap for their music. You play it backwards and the guy gets his dog back his wife back and he stops crying in his beer.
