Is batman's motivation for being a vigilante good or evil?

The reason why Batman does what he does is to avenge his his parents' murder.

I’d call it righteous anger. He’s angry, but rightly so. Unarmed civilians being shot dead, leaving their kids without parents?


That’s something that would compel someone to seek justice.


That righteous anger alone is not evil. But, it can become evil if it devolves into something like an insatiable blood thirst or blind rage that persists beyond what would be considered justice.


Like a wild stallion, that righteous anger needs to be controlled so that it doesn’t go out of hand and become something else.

Haha, yeah. The Punisher tends to retaliate with more violence than necessary — which is why he’s an antihero. The Punisher doesn’t really show mercy — he just ‘gets the job done’ and then some. Batman doesn’t kill. The Punisher does kill, even when he doesn’t have to.

No, Batman does what he does so that children won't have to grow up without their parents, and he doesn't kill (in most iterations) in part for the same reason.

You're more accurately describing The Punisher who takes out his vengeful rage on various criminals after losing his family.

It is a good thing I guess. He fights for justice, not revenge. He knows the difference and he does not cross any lines by killing or murdering people. He i a righteous dude in his own sense, and I like him.

I honestly think Batman fights crime so that no other children have to go through with he went through.. He fights to be a hope for the people of Gotham, and a terror for the criminals.. So in that sense, his goals are good..
