Should Mike Myers come back to star as Austin Powers again for one more movie?

Ever since Austin Powers in Goldmember was released in 2002, the fourth film in the series has been in development hell. It's been rumored to be in numerous stages of production over the years, but nothing has ever come of it. However, Austin Powers fans still remain hopeful. However, as a fan of the franchise myself, I highly doubt that it's ever going to happen. For one thing, Goldmember wasn't as well received as the first two movies, with many actually saying that it's the worst one. While I don't hate it, it's definitely the weakest in the trilogy. Also, Goldmember kind of wrapped up the story of the series with Dr. Evil turning good. Having an Austin Powers movie without Dr. Evil just doesn't sound right. I mean, they were clearly setting up Scott as the new villain, but I'm pretty sure that was just a joke. I like Seth Green, but he really doesn't strike me as an actor who can play a lead villain. Also, Mike Myers really isn't the hot commodity that he once was. During this time, when Mike Myers made a new movie, it was almost guaranteed to be a success. However, after a series of critical and commercial bombs during the 2000s, his star faded dramatically. His most recent really good project was his cameo in Inglourious Bastards. He did appear in Bohemian Rhapsody, which was pretty good, but his attempt at a comeback with the Netflix series The Pantavorit failed dramatically, putting him back at square one. not to mention his reputation for being a hothead and perfectionist. It is safe to say that if a fourth Austin Powers movie ever happens, I will be very surprised. pleasantly surprised, but surprised nonetheless. What are your thoughts, should he at his age?

Comedies are pretty cheap, so it shouldn't be that much of an issue for the accountants to greenlight a fourth Austin Powers movie. Dr. Evil doesn't need to be evil in it, they could go in a completely different direction, maybe make some meta commentary about aging and changing roles in life.

For that reason, an evil Seth Green where he still disagrees with his Dad, except now the dynamic is reversed in that Dr. Evil thinks it's lame because he has let being evil go, and finds the super villain game childish, and Seth Green is now completely serious and is ironically following in his father's footsteps... That could be pretty funny.

Seth Green probably couldn't act as a James Bond villain, but maybe they could make a commentary on modern politics. Maybe Seth Green could be some insufferable wokie who's running an EVIL social media company, but ironically enough, he's quite popular with the Hollywood elites. He goes around vigorously insisting that he's evil, but all the institutional players are okay with it because their interests are totally aligned.

Meanwhile Dr. Evil is just chilling in his Boomer mansion somewhere grilling, and checking in on his son from time to time and chiding him. "You know son, I tried to take over the world, and I came pretty close, but it's so lonely at the top." And then Seth Green gets Dr. Evil canceled for saying something crass at a party in 1993.

Maybe in a supporting role as the next generation takes over. With Scott Evil getting his doctorate at Evil School and maybe an illegitimate offspring of Austin as the new hero.

i would like to see him back. but this would require an actual well-written script, since people wouldn't watch the movie just because he's in it anymore. Gross out humor wouldn't be enough to save it.
