Have you seen the new Inside Out movie?

Saw the first, I’ve heard mixed reviews about this one though. I don’t know if I’m gonna see it. by the way, sometimes in movies time isn't parallel to our own timeline. I’ve seen movie sequels, which took place before the events of the first film, or in the case of Back To The Future, Michael J fox was 3 ½ years older in the second movie, but the movie starts at the exact point where the original ended, so in the move he was seconds older. You just have to be willing to suspend disbelief.
Yes. There is a real term for this phenomenon - suspension of disbelief. If you are to watch/enjoy many movies, you need to shift gears a bit. Another term you may run across is "breaking the fourth wall" where the moviemaker "admits" it's a movie by taking the viewer through that "reality barrier".
@Massageman Thank you so much. I really appreciate you explaining that. it shows me that you are a kind person, and that’s pretty rare these days. My dad actually works in the motion picture industry, so I know those terms, but it was so sweet of you to let me know. It’s not that often that someone volunteers to help someone understand something like that, and I really want to thank you. Seriously, that was really kind of you.
Most sincerely, Laura. 🤗
These are good points. Thank you.
Thank you, Laura. I try my best to help when/where I can. You must really get a kick out of Mel Brooks' movies- creatively breaks that wall a lot! Airplane (movie) did a lot in that respect on several different levels, too, whether viewers realized it or not. The series "Fall Guy", Lee Majors as a stuntman/bounty tracer, is an interesting study since part of the inherent plot line IS going through that fourth wall, several times per episode, typically. Of course, suspension of disbelief is so much of a "given" that show/movies that were "cutting edge" a decade ago are so commonplace now. In a few years, the edgy ones of today will become just as mundane, I suppose. Given that, I DO really enjoy a show/movie that really knows how to work with that fourth wall, seems to me to be much more difficult than just assuming the person will ditch their disbelief.
@Massageman Given who my dad is, we’ve always had a screening room in our homes. We had one in California, and because of the elevation here, we actually have a basement (in Florida!) Anyway that’s where the theatre is. We’d get screeners, which are full movies, released to industry insiders before they are released in theaters, So I grew-up loving great cinema! Mel Brooks is just a genius! From The Producers, to The Silent Movie, to Young Frankenstein, To History of The World Part I, they are all just brilliant. I wasn't a HUGE fan of Space Balls, it was okay, and there’s some great parts, but it was too “shcticky” for me. I just think he went for schtick, over just making a GREAT move in its own right. I don’t know maybe he had to produce a movie by a certain date, but it just felt rushed, and there’s little to no nuance in it. All that aside, Blazing Saddles is my favorite comedy of ALL TIME! It is such a brilliant film on so many levels. nowadays, they'd just say it was "racist" without realizing that he was no more being racist with Blazing Saddles, than he was being anti-Semitic with The Producers! The racism in Blazing Saddles is there to point out the stupidity, and ignorance of those who practice it! But yes, it's definitely my favorite comedy of all time, and that is a high bar because I LOVE comedy! And Mel Brooks is quite possibly the very best we will ever see! Well... him and Harold Ramis. Stripes, is probably my second favorite (non Monty Python) comedy. (Being ½ British and growing up in England, the Pythons, and especially John Cleese and not only Monty Python's Flying Circus, but both Fawlty Towers and The Life of Brian all the penultimate pinnacles of comedy to me,) I've always found Mel Brooks’ style of comedy similar to that of John Cleese, but more of an Americanized version. But that's just my opinion.
Nice Chatting.
I hope I added something to the conversation.
Sincerely, Laura. 🤗
I'll check it out. Feels during a movie are usually a sign of a good movie.
I haven't seen the movie yet. Kids grow up fast, don't they?
I remember, doesn't seem that long ago, holding my son as a baby, walking him around in the middle of the night, trying to get him to sleep. Now he's an adult, a college graduate, with a good paying job, wife and kids of his own.
Enjoy your kids when they are young. We parents don't get older, but our children do.
So true ❤️
My wife and son I are going to see it this afternoon. I didn't see the first one until recently though since my son is younger than yours.
Our 8 year old was there too. It’s written on multiple levels and he picked up on the funny parts.
Yeah he had questions about what anxiety was after. Made me happy that he hadn't really experienced it yet
Same. I was getting worried for Riley when she was in the pentalty box. I said “she’s having an anciety attack.” 8 year old asked “what even is an anxiety attack?” 🥺🥺
Time really does fly, doesn't it? It's like one moment they're taking their first steps, and the next, they're navigating the maze of adolescence. Movies like Inside Out have this magical way of mirroring our own experiences and growth alongside our kids. I haven't caught the new movie myself yet, but hearing about your emotional rollercoaster makes me eager to watch it with my daughter. It sounds like a wonderful backdrop to reflect on the changes and milestones in our children's lives. How fantastic is it that we can journey through these emotions together, both on the screen and in the cozy comfort of our shared experiences? Let's remember to cherish these moments - they're as fleeting as they are deep and meaningful.

I saw the first one, and it does have some good basis for the theory behind it. My wife has been a counselor for 20+ years, so I've heard a lot about all this stuff over the years. I'm just not sure I'd even WANT to see the new one, since the "big-d" has been woking up their movies recently and the majority lately have been flops. But, we'll see - - - -
I have not been to the theater since before covid. I have notcseen this movie. There is a new cinema in my town and I am waiting for something special to be shown sobit is worth the money
It’s about time! Let me know what you see!
Time gets away from us
Nope, not yet. But I'd like to see it. I liked the first one and the short of her first date.
I have not seen this short. Googling now…

I plan to. I really liked the first one. I know it's for kids, but I appreciate the themes.
I have not. My son isn't old enough yet to sit still or appreciate the themes.
